20 October, 2004 Much has been written and read about the crisis in Zimbabwe where the current regime is allowing the country to slide off the focus of all our developed nations. What is not known is the fact that many Zimbabweans are prevented from most of the basic necessities to preserve human dignity. The Zimbabwe health-care industry is in crisis and in response to this we are addressing this letter to you. We have been asked by many people: What can I do?” Well, you can do something. And the Wesley Flavell Heart Foundation has been set up to do this. We are sure many of you know Wesley Flavell by now. The little man is healthy after his life-saving operation and is a mischievous 18 month old – walking, talking, enjoying playschool and laughing with the world. The generosity shown to Wesley Flavell in his hour of need was overwhelming. As a result his parents had financial peace of mind and his surgery could take place in South Africa. However, there are many other Zimbabwean families who find themselves in the same position as Wesley’s family were. All the excitement of a new born baby is clouded by the news that there is a problem with their new baby’s heart. Due to the healthcare crisis, there is no heart care available in Zimbabwe and expensive plans have to be made to travel to South Africa for the necessary medical attention. Their Zimbabwe medical aid cannot pay for these children’s care as the medical aid would require Forex and the government has decreed there is no access to Forex whatsoever. The decreasing value of the Zimbabwean Dollar presents a further nightmare. The Flavell family is so eternally grateful for the incredible generosity that was shown to Wesley that the Foundation is now committed to raising funds for any Zimbabwean child who has a heart condition and is in need of financial support. The Foundation pledges to hold fund raising events on an annual basis to raise enough funds to help at least one if not two deserving Zimbabwean heart children per year. Through your help Wesley has been given the blessing of leading a normal life. All we ask is that through the Foundation’s efforts and your support at least one other child per year is given the same opportunity. You CAN do something – The Wesley Flavell Heart Foundation will help you. WESLEY FLAVELL HEART FOUNDATION Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Dale Flavell 082 777 9719 WE THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR COMPANY ! _____________________________________

2003 On Tuesday 9th September 120 golfers gathered at Centurion Park on a beautiful Highveld spring day to participate in what was to prove a super fun day with magnificent prizes which were all donations. After the prize giving Craig Rheeder reverted to his previous occupation as an auctioneer and raised an enormous amount of money for the fund. The lots on the auction were also generously donated. All the raffle tickets for the wheelbarrow of booze were sold raising R5,200. The winner kindly gave the prize back to be auctioned, which was finally sold for an incredible R10,000 thus raising R15,200 for the barrow of booze alone. The day was a fabulous success thanks for all the hard work of Billy, Shona and Robyn together with the backroom helpers. Thanks also to Craig who arranged most of the 4 balls and for Wesley’s grandfather to be in South Africa for both the golf days at Centurion Park and the Harare Country Club. An amazing R60,000 was raised for the Wesley Flavell Heart Trust. PICS BELOW ! Zimbabwe The golf day on 12th September at the Harare Country Club was organised by Kerry, Jane, Candy, Les & Mike with the use of the course donated by the Club. Being Friday, everybody arrived in great spirits further fuelled by the Blue and Red Bugs Shooters which were sold on both tees. Gin tents out on the course kept the alcohol level high enough to not let the odd poor shot spoil the day with most of the full quota of Mulligans were used. Again the donated prizes and the auction lots were top drawer. The very successful day raised an awesome Z$11,000,000. The evening disco went on until the early hours of the morning, compliments of Glen and Graham, who once again donated their equipment and time to Wesley. The organisers hard work paid handsome dividends for the Wesley Flavell Heart Trust. CLICK PICS FOR LARGER PHOTOS Click
