The Jack Daniel’s Music Reporter: Featuring Cape Town Band, Beast [VIDEO]

As most folks know, Jack Daniel’s has always had a special relationship with music. Some have even called it a love affair. Frank, Keith, Jimmy, Guns… the list of legends that have a special place in their heart for Jack is long and distinguished. Since day one, the Tennessee Whiskey has been back stage, on stage and at the after party, as much a part of music folklore as a Fender guitar or a Marshall amp. It’s in this spirit that the Jack Daniel’s Music Reporter is made. Every month the reporter goes behind the music to find out what makes some of South Africa’s hottest bands tick, as well as unearthing some new talent along the way; those young acts that have a fresh new slant on things, boldly going where no muso has gone before.

This month’s band: Beast

This month the Jack Daniel’s Music Reporter hooked up with Beast. This is one talented group. Their vocalist, Inge Beckman, is an insanely talented singer who achieved legendary status in SA with her band, Lark. The two bass players (that’s right, this band has two bass players and no guitarist) are Louis and Rian, the drummer and guitarist from Taxi Violence, and the drummer is Sasha from The Plastics. None of this would matter if their sound didn’t grab you by the scruff of the neck and force you to bow down at the alter of rock. Look out for the guy head banging in the crowd, same guy from The Brother Moves On video that we featured in January. His name’s Maurice. Message to all bands: if Maurice is head banging at one of your gigs, you’re definitely doing something right.

Mr Daniel doesn’t mind how you drink your whiskey, as long as you do it responsibly.
