Brazil’s deadly drug wars have actually been made worse by President Jair Bolsonaro and his attempts to curb the violence by throwing more guns into the mix.
Uruguay is taking steps to regulate the sale of marijuana in their country. With drug-lords taking over the fairly huge marijuana market of around 20,000 daily marijuana users, the government is stepping in to claim a slice of the pie.

By now you must have heard of Nobanda Nolubabalo, the 23 year-old South African who was arrested in Bangkok on Monday. She is accused of being a drug mule and was allegedly carrying 1.5kg of cocaine, hidden in her dreadlocks. Photos of customs officers searching her hair have since appeared online. He has made a series of shocking adverts – each stressing the horrible consequences of abusing methamphetamine, or Tik as it is known here. Be warned however, even though these are must-see material, some of them are very disturbing and probably NSFW.
The latest in a series of phenomenally creative, Hollywood movie style smuggling stories involves false-bottomed cars, parking meters and a total of 16 tunnels. Of course no one was caught in the act, but if you guessed that the tunnels were supposed to be filled with drugs and some very naughty Mexicans, you’d be correct.
The Global Commission on Drug Policy has released a report stating that the ‘war on drugs’ has failed. Like Dame Judi Dench and Sting, the 19-member panel – which includes Sir Richard Branson, Kofi Annan and former leaders of Brazil and Mexico – is urging for the decriminalization of drugs. The USA is not amused.
