The real world just gets a bit much sometimes and we all want an escape, but this is so unreal it is almost freaky… but in a truly awesome way. You could easily live here… forever!
Self-driving cars… luxury or lunacy?
American Furniture giant, Herman Miller, has been causing severe procrastination across America because of their instagram account.
Google has just dropped their very own DIY-street-view-tool that lets you contribute to their global network of images with your own camera.
Smartphone cameras have come a long, long way since those crappy little one-megapixel cameras on the back of old Motorola clam-shells. And thank God for that. But if we’re honest, there are limitations to a any smartphone camera. But that’s where gadgets like this one fit in.
A few HD cameras were recently delivered to the International Space Station, and they’re all set to start streaming live images from space.
Paralympians are often overlooked by the public and overshadowed by their able-bodied counterparts, usually because people assume they not as good or their events are not as entertaining. As the following video will duly demonstrate, that is farthest thing from the truth, meet the Superhumans.
Today is Madiba day, Nelson Mandela’s 94th birthday, and to honour the great man Prezence Digital put together an amazing video tribute exploring how things might have been different had today’s social media been around back in the day. Click through for the awesome video and a few words from its creators.
So hey, we’ve had a pretty cool look at the future thanks to Google’s I/O Keynote yesterday – where they covered the new Nexus 7 tablet, the Nexus Q media orb, and the awesome, skydiving-filled Project Glass demonstration that you’re really, really going to want to watch, after the jump.
Google recently put out an ad for a full-time doodler, and it seems they may have filled that position. Today’s doodle celebrates the 78th birthday of Robert Moog, creator of the famous “moog” synthesisers, in their best tribute yet. But what sets it apart from your average doodle?
Flashmobs are normally pretty lame. Dancing hipsters, smirking along, and then leaving – only after having disrupted your day. Not this. The Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra took to the Metro to promote a new classical radio station, by performing Grieg’s “Peer Gynt.” The result? Epicness. Full video after the jump.

This is ridiculous, watch as these clearly insane people calmly cross a ravine, on a rope, 700m from the ground! It’s terrifying, logic-defying, awe-inspiring and incredible all at the same time, and once you start watching there’s no way you can stop. Click through for the video.
A new startup called Urthecast is in the process of putting together HD cameras to be fitted to the International Space Station, so that people can watch real-time video of the planet from space. Which is at once really cool, and sort of pointless. The footage is looking impressive, though – take a look.
Yesterday NASA managed to capture the clearest-yet footage of a solar flare in process after magnetic fields on the Sun’s northeastern curve exploded in huge streams of plasma and sun stuff. The footage only accounts for about five seconds of explosion, but it’s very, very cool, both in and out of time-lapse.
Russian daredevil Tyomka Pirniazov free-climbed up to the ornate Soviet star on top of the 200 metre tall, Stalin-era Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building in Moscow. Which is made a little more impressive by the fact that he spent the duration of the climb with a camera clenched in his mouth.
Man, it must be nice having the second-highest GDP per capita in the world, like Qatar does. That way you can afford to kit out your police force with an entire fleet of deeply sexy Porsche and VW vehicles, which you can send out on parades whenever you feel like it. Like in this insane video.
The Pima Air & Space Museum in Tuscon, Arizona recently launched a 14-metre long paper aeroplane, in world record attempt. Because that’s the kind of stuff you have to do to get press when you’re an Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Check the launch after the jump.
Bad. Ass. NASA has released a new space atlas, detailing over 560 million stars, galaxies and asteroids, many never seen before. The 18 000 awesome images were taken by NASA’s infrared space telescope, the Wide-field Survey Explorer (WISE). Take a look at some of the incredible space-images after the space-jump.
Formula One race cars are intended for many things – being awesome, making loud noises, giving Germans something to do. Driving on snow is not one of them. In spite of that, Andy Gülden equipped one with snow tires and drove it around the snow-covered race tracks of the famously challenging Nürburgring in Germany. Madness.
It’s less than a week to go until the iPad 3 is unveiled, so everybody and their grandma is throwing out thoughts about what the new toy can do. Concrete stats are emerging though – Apple employees have been browsing the web with their personal iPad 3’s, turning up details about the new tablet on website server logs.
For around two weeks each February, the sunset turns the Horsetail Falls in Yosemite Park, California into an incredible bright orange “firefall” that looks like flowing lava. And it’s happening right now – take a look at the video after the jump.
Douglas Mallett, 23, won a Golf GTI in the fading light of the Cape Town Tens rugby festival over the weekend. This post could also be titled: “How To Kick A Rugby Ball At A Crossbar…Like A Boss”.
OK Go did a song about the primary colours on Sesame Street. No other band would make me care about this, but OK Go are sort of the kings of viral videos. So click through for some stop-motion, a new track, and primary-coloured theme outfits. No spandex this time, though.
I’m not entirely sure I care that this is just some publicity stunt for a mediocre-to-bad “found footage” film about super heroes. This is awesome advertising. Click through to see how 20th Century Fox teamed up with Thinkmodo for their unusual viral promotion for the upcoming Chronicle.
This is pretty badass – footage of a Gauteng biker assessing a motorcycle rally course for the Amageza Challenge and taking a short detour midway through to save a calf drowning in a nearby canal. In the event that you’ve grown tired of Gaddafi footage, and would like to watch something awesome instead.
‘Quantum Levitation’ even sounds cool. The guys from the University of Tel-Aviv’s School of Physics Superconductivity Group recently demonstrated ‘quantum locking,’ at the Association of Science – Technology Centers Annual Conference by getting a supercooled magnet to levitate above a locked track. The science is clunky, the video looks very cool.
The nice thing about initiatives like Microsoft Research is that you get to have an early gander at the things that you’re going to be spending stupid amounts of money on next year. Like the OmniTouch, for instance, which projects “touchscreen” interfaces onto pretty much whatever surface you want – desk, paper, or the back of your hand.
Awesome. Women on the Philippine island of Mindanao, growing tired of the continuing separatist warfare interfering in their everyday goings-on, decided to take matters into their own hands. And by hands, I mean pants. They organized a “sex strike”, which brought a quick end to fighting between the two villages.
It’s pretty neat – the new pen by Wacom draws like a regular pen, but has a pressure-sensitive receiver that records your actual drawings for digital import and computer manipulation. So when you doodle obscene images, they show up directly onto your screen. Welcome to the future.
OK Go did a rendition of the theme song from The Muppet Show in their Green Album. Now they’ve made a video; it’s sort of like all of their other music videos, except it features Muppets. I don’t like suggesting that something going viral is a foregone conclusion, but this thing going viral is a foregone conclusion.
