The Dalai Lama’s local representative seems to be telling the media that his South African visa application has been denied, which is far from the truth.
Yet another Tibetan Buddhist monk doused himself in fuel and set fire to himself in China yesterday. This brings to ten the total number of monks who’ve resorted to this extreme form of protest since March this year.
In a press conference in Dharamsala, India, His Holiness the Dalai Lama announced that he’d be stepping down as political leader of the Tibetan government in exile, to make way for an elected representative. He will be retaining his position as Tibet’s spiritual leader.
