Courts in Saudi Arabia have started sending out texts informing women that their husbands have divorced them, in an attempt to protect the rights of female clients.

Manal al-Sharif, organizer in the Saudi Right-to-Drive campaign, was arrested on Sunday after posting a video of herself driving, while urging women to take part in a “drive-in” protest on June the 17th. Since then, the event’s Facebook page has been deleted, and a fake Sharif Twitter account has claimed that the campaign was off.

Mike Lazaridis, CEO of the Canadian firm behind Blackberry, was interviewed by the BBC yesterday; when asked about the problems they’d had with Indian and Middle East governments, who’d demanded greater access to the security system used by Blackberry, Lazaridis said the question was unfair and walked out on the interview.
