Today is truly the end of an era. Veteran newsreader Riaan Cruywagen will be reading his last news bulletin on air this evening at 19h00 on SABC2.
Say it isn’t so! After nearly 40 years in the industry, veteran Afrikaans newsreader Riaan Cruywagen is retiring. This was confirmed by acting head of news and actuality at the SABC, Jimi Matthews. He said that Cruywagen will be leaving the SABC during this month sometime.
Riaan Cruywagen will release an autobiography at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival this year. It will be available in stores from April 2. The man who knows the news before the news happens, has enjoyed a prosperous 47 years in broadcasting, of which 37 were spent as an Afrikaans newsreader.
