President Bashar al-Assad of Syria is on Instagram, and he wants everyone to know what he’s been up to. The shots he’s posted so far show the President and his wife doing charitable work, feeding the hungry, embracing children, and being swarmed by loving crowds.
Though Syria claimed yesterday that they would never use chemical or bilogical weapons against their own, they did acknowledge they have a bunch of chemical and biological weapons, and would use them against external forces if they have to.
The Syrian government yesterday passed a bill lifting the country’s decades-old emergency law, some hours after protesters were fired upon by security forces. This follows weeks of pro-reform demonstrations and protests. Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad has at this point not yet signed the bill into legislation.
