The New R50 Note Turns Mandela Into A Lion When Held Up To The Light [PICS]

We were mucking about with the new SA bank notes yesterday and noticed that the reserve bank seemingly purposefully lined up Mandela’s eyes on the one side, with the lion’s eyes on the other. They have the same distance between the eyes and are exactly aligned. Hold it up to the light and it looks very cool. Pics inside..

As far as owning a piece of history goes, this prison cell door, from Robben Island – the institution infamous for the incarceration Nelson Mandela – is about as good as it gets. The cell door is still in the same condition it was when it was removed in 1996, and may even have imprisoned Mandela himself!

The liquidators of Aurora Empowerment Systems, which is accused of asset-stripping bankrupt Pamodzi Gold, amongst other dubious activities, will lay charges of fraud this week against Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Zondwa. President Jacob Zuma made a very cool announcement this weekend on the 22nd anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from prison. Towards the end of this year South Africa will get a series of new bank notes which will have Madiba’s image as the main illustration instead of the animals we’ve come to know.

Producer, Rick Leed announced at a press release today the production of a reality show centered on the lives of three of Nelson Mandela’s grandchildren – Dorothy Adjoa Amuah, Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, and Swati Dlamini. Leed is known for his work on the American reality series, Dr. 90210. The three stars are known for being related to somebody important.

Acting President and official Deputy President Kgalemo Mothlanthe held a press conference regarding the health of Nelson Mandela on Friday afternoon at 12h30. Mandela was admitted earlier in the week to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg under a veil of secrecy for a collapsed lung.
