In true Malema fashion, the EFF have burst upon the parliamentary scene full of vigour, colour, song and… is that dust?
The magazine based it on, what it calls, the enormous influence that the ANCYL has on South African politics, including it’s hand in the election of Jacob Zuma. They also go on to say that Malema is one of the countries most ‘divisive’ and ‘polarising’ figures and that he frequently ‘stirs controversy with his racial slurs’. They couldn’t be more correct.
In a recent ruling by Judge Colin Lamont, “Dubula Ibhunu”, also known as “shoot the boer”, has been deemed hate speech. Lamont, who is presiding over Julius Malema’s hate speech trial, also made it clear that the Equality Act was put in place to protect all groups in a country, and in this case, more specifically, minorities. Sorry JuJu. Not.
While it’s certainly no secret that we try to steer well clear of the pessimistic soap opera that is South African politics, once in a while a story comes along that is so face-meltingly radical that it is literally impossible to ignore.
