Jeepers, my boet, maybe you shouldn’t be klapping gym so hard? Click through to witness a pretty clearly filmed video of two Johannesburg drivers in a punch-up at a set of traffic lights. Wow..
Yesterday, the Johannesburg Metro Police shut down an operation mass producing penis enlargement advertisement posters. Because apparently this is actually a priority issue in our country.
Well, look, apparently money can buy anything. This is architectural gem was designed by Nico van der Meulen Architects. Known as “The Glass House” its beauty covers almost 27 000 square feet of prime real estate in Johannesburg. This, from Design Milk: This modern mansion comes complete with an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a […]
In the world’s biggest economies Johannesburg rates as the 7th most polluted air. The title of most polluted city goes not to Beijing as most would imagine, but the city ofLudhiana in India.

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s life and marriage (twice!) is the stuff of legend. We were quite taken-aback at these recent extracts from his diaries, which reveal the time they had in the Kruger National Park and Johannesburg.
Joahnnesburgers tend to make quite a big deal of the famed “Highveld storm”, talking up the magnitude and power of every smattering of rain in their general vicinity. But after watching this video, we think it’s probably fair to let them keep the weather bragging rights for a while longer. The footage was shot in […]
Jozi – get a load of the rad new PUMA store that’s about to take you by storm!
On August 7 this year, all nine provinces in South Africa experienced simultaneous snowfall for the very first time. Joburg’s residents in particular were rather excited about this event and made sure the rest of us knew it via Facebook and Twitter. Sandton’s largest Twitter account, @sandtontimes, compiled this beautiful Instagram photo compilation of the city’s snow – sourced from social networks.
Two properties in Bryanston and Douglasdale, north of Johannesburg, have been raided by police. It is believed by the police that the syndicate produced large amounts of mandrax tablets, and a third drug laboratory is currently under investigation.
I’m pretty tired of teaching all my mates the basics of Photoshop. Now that everyone has woken up and realised how much money they can save doing little photographic tweaks themselves (rather than hiring a designer whose skills far outweigh your little jobs), a course like this is invaluable. I strongly urge you to do […]
I am pleased to announce that Digicape is already taking orders for the new range of Macbook Pros – with retina displays. Rumours are that they will begin hitting SA retail outlets the week of the 26th (of June), so best you get moving! It won’t be long before everyone is trying to buy an […]
2oceansvibe Radio recently launched our Melrose Arch Studio to much fanfare in Johannesburg. The launch of the studio was our way of answering the desperate cries of our many thousands of Johannesburg listeners who, since being liberated from Morkels ads, “hump days” and “no repeat workday” radio were craving a stronger taste of the Vibe. […]
Anyone traveling from Cape Town to Johannesburg, especially on the “business run” on a Monday morning, knows that it’s a heck of a busy route. Exactly how busy, though? The Economist crunched the numbers and it turns out its one of the world’s busiest, outranking anything in the USA.
In a statement following yesterday’s DA-led protest in Johannesburg that turned violent, spokesperson for Cosatu Patrick Craven praised Cosatu members for causing the DA protest’s ignominious retreat and said the Cosatu response was justified.
Tertiary education is turning into a very dangerous pursuit indeed. Following on the heels of the incident at the University of Johannesburg not too long ago, similar chaos is currently underway at the Vaal University of Technology. Students have been queuing since Monday to get registered for classes, but have been faced with heavy, and some would say aggressive, security.
The mother of a prospective student has been killed in a stampede for late registrations at the University of Johannesburg, which has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the university.
Regular readers and 2oceansvibe Twitter followers will be well aware that I only stay at The Westcliff hotel when I’m in Johannesburg. The beauty of the Westcliff hotel is you actually don’t really need to leave the hotel. And you don’t have to feel bad about it either – because the Westcliff is where you […]
Looks like the only bottles in da club for Lil Weezy will be the ones filled with mineral water. Following his recent conviction for drug possession, the rapper isn’t allowed to consume alcohol or associate with anyone knowingly engaged in narcotics – good luck. Let’s see if he can last longer than (Camps Bay) “twenty minutes my broda”.
Someone told me about this the last time I went to Jo’burg. I didn’t get to see it because I rarely move from the grounds of The Westcliff – either at the pool or in the Polo Lounge. Nonetheless, one Andrew F did manage to get a photo. Apparently this oke sits https://www.1edrxpills.com there most days, […]
By 09h00 this morning, Gautrain announced it had already transported 7 000 passengers on the new route between Johannesburg and Pretoria, which opened today. The long-awaited second phase of the Gautrain will enable jaded Gauteng commuters to jump on a train between Hatfield and Rosebank stations, and then travel via bus to their destination.
Bafana, Benson and Moses are a threesome who really love the finer things in life. Particularly, pricy watches. It appears this Johannesburg trio of thieves will pick up a stray Rolex whenever they get the chance, really. So they were thrilled when their case was struck off the roll in the Pretoria Regional Court yesterday.
Vampire Diaries star, Ian Somerhalder (formerly of Lost) is in “Africa” – more specifically, Johannesburg – reports Channel24. Somerhalder tweeted his whereabouts at around 10h30 today.
A new survey was recently done of the global capital cities of finance, innovation and tourism. The report graded 26 metros from Stockholm to Santiago on business opportunities, culture, livability, and innovation. Johannesburg, the only African city on the list, came in at number 25 – basically beating only Mumbai.
Remember the story about the Pied Piper of Hamlyn? He was the guy hired to lure rats away from the city by playing his magic pipe. The city of Johannesburg may be in need of its own modern day PPOH, given the rat infestation currently plaguing the CBD.
As a born and bred Joburger, this headline tastes like sweet justice. Looks like Jozi isn’t the only city that’s going to be klapped by the new tolling system. Capetonians are in for it too. See, that’s karma for you, you can’t have that mountain and stunning city without some repercussions.
There was like so much drama (insert nasal whine) at the Joburg Fashion week. David Tlale’s finale on the Nelson Mandela Bridge started two hours late, which lead to many people leaving before it started, and several sad little schmodels. See, Derek Zoolander was right; life’s hard, even when you’re really, really, ridiculously good looking.
This is sort of cool and sort of awful. Jozi thieves have stripped about 400 ‘high-tech traffic lights’ of their sim cards, modems and GPS systems, using the sim cards to make unlimited free phone calls. It will cost about R8,8 million to replace these fancy, legitimately robot-like traffic lights. Regular GPS-free traffic lights are unaffected.
Our 2oceansvibe Radio Johannesburg correspondent, Lize Kay, joined us on air today, to give us the the third installment of “What’s The Vibe In Jozi?”, a run down of what’s hot and happening in Jozi. Will her report this week include witty references to parallel parking? Only clicking through to download the very small, very punchy mp3 will give you the answer…
