BlackBerry Voted Coolest Brand In SA

So you thought CrackBerries were only cool in the eyes of business people addicted to their email? Think again. South Africa’s youth has voted BlackBerry the coolest brand in the country in the Sunday Times Generation Next 2011 Brand Survey Awards. That means BlackBerry trumps Apple, in spite of the latter’s beautifully designed and supposedly cooler iParaphernalia. And the reason? BBM and ‘free’ internet for the kids, obviously.

Times Square Video Screen Hack

This has been generating some online discussion – a video of a dude hijacking billboards in Times Square using an iPhone 4, a transmitter, a balloon and some tape, like a geeky MacGyver. The feeling at the moment is that this is a publicity stunt, but if so it’s an awesome-looking stunt.

Yes, I know, me and everybody’s grandma used ‘there’s an app for that’ as the headline, but that’s because me and everybody’s grandma have an awesome sense of humour. New York’s Health Department released a smartphone app for finding free condom distribution points via GPS on Monday.
