Transocean, the owner of the drilling rig that sank after an explosion that killed 11 workers and led to the massive 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, has agreed to pay $1,4 billion in various penalties.
It has been two years since 4,9 million barrels of oil were spilled into the Gulf of Mexico. In the midst of the disaster, BP and its contractors did everything they could to keep people from seeing the scale of the disaster.
