In the aftermath of last Friday’s plane crash off the island of Robinson Crusoe, Chile, officials have stated that no effort would be spared in the rescue/recovery of the 17 passengers. This apparently includes using the Find My iPhone app to isolate the coordinates of one of the passenger’s last known whereabouts before the crash.
There’s a lot of that volcano business going down at the moment. Over 3,500 people have been evacuated from the area surrounding the Chilean volcano Puyehue, active for the first time in 50 years. Volcanic ash, stirred up by the activity, has spread across the border into Argentina, shutting down businesses and airports.
Following President Vaclav Klaus’ pen theft during a trade ceremony with Chile, a 5 000-strong Facebook campaign has been launched in the Czech Republic to mail pens and stationery to his offices, because, “Mr. president obviously has nothing to write with.” As yet, there is no word on whether these pens are encrusted with semi-precious Chilean stones.
