The Hout Bay Seal Rescue Centre (HBSRC) denounces attacks on seals after yet another one of the animals was brutally killed allegedly by people who thought it was infected with rabies.
Given that this is the first documented rabies infection in a marine mammal population, there remain many uncertainties, said the city, ahead of World Rabies Day on Saturday.
If it’s not clear already that we need to leave wild animals be, then perhaps a case of rabies will put a person off for good.
Again, this is a tragic end for a wild animal just trying to live its life in peace.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has welcomed the court outcome, saying that this situation will send a clear message that animal cruelty won’t be tolerated.
