The feisty cape baboons are leaving residents reeling with what to do about keeping them contained.
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has condemned some Kommetjie community members for an attack on a local baboon troop on the evening of Sunday, 4 August 2024.
Photographer Agi Orfanos managed to capture the scene on camera, showing a tourist getting the fright of his life when a baboon began helping himself to the contents of his car.
Anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee posted the video initially, joking that crime is really getting out of hand in South Africa.
Expect there to be an increase in the number of baboons spotted in the ‘burbs once the City of Cape Town abandons its urban baboon management programme.
2oceansviber, Howard James Fyvie got in touch to share this video of a flange (best collective noun, ever) of baboons methodically wrecking a lovely coastal home in Betty’s Bay. It’s mental, and a little bit scary.
