Unfortunately yes, you did read that correctly. Sam, a somewhat timid and reserved 19 year old, is standing up for what he feels is right. He has decided enough is enough and it’s time that he joined the rebel forces on the front line in the Libyan Desert.
Are those free songs in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

I’m in two minds about this – on the one hand, we have Nick Frost & Simon Pegg, who are hilarious, attempting to re-enact a scene from Star Wars, which is awesome. But on the other hand this is just sort of blatant advertising for Paul, their new Seth-Rogen-starring film.
In 1961 permanent stations in the Antarctic had only just been built. It was quite literally a new frontier. So when Leonid Rogozov found himself with an acute case of appendicitis, the offending organ had to be removed at the station. The only problem: He was the only man who could perform the operation.
Aside from the shit literally hitting the fan, let’s break this down and look at what it’s going to mean for the nation that is embroiled in one of the worst struggles against a dictator in history.
Like they say, it’s always fun for two males to play “vampire” with each other – until one gets stabbed with a knife for not wanting to play anymore. I have a feeling “playing vampire” might be slang for something else…
Hear ye, hear ye! Today is Friday. You know what that means. That means that we knock off at 12h00. Do you know why we knock off at 12h00? Because we’re not lying to ourselves. “I”M NOT LYING TO MYSELF.” You shouldn’t either. No one is working productively after 12h00 on a Friday afternoon. The […]
Oh boy. The Nelson Mandela Foundation, which is apparently under some financial stress, is launching a Mandela-themed designer line, dubbed the 46664 Apparel line. Shwe-shwe material and brightly-coloured golf shirts feature prominently, because that’s what Mandela’s about.
Zahrul Fuadi, 39, joins Tsutomu Yamaguchi as the second in a pair of the luckiest men in history.
Yamaguchi survived two atomic bombs, and Fuadi survived two killer tsunamis.
Opposition parties are in strong agreement with the Constitutional Court’s ruling that the legislation providing for the dissolution of the Scorpions and their replacement by the Hawks was constitutionally invalid. In a decision yesterday, the highest court in the land found that a section of the Act in question did not allow for enough protection from political influence. Opposition parties have welcomed this decision.
Aristide Buggers Off And Tells Everyone Else (Obama In Particular) To Do The Same – The US did everything except stamp its foot and declare it forbidden, but nothing was going to stop Jean-Bertrand Aristide from leaving Johannesburg on Thursday night. Not the prospect of his mere presence throwing his country into chaos, and certainly […]
Happy St Paddy’s Day. If you’re out and about making merry in Cape Town tonight, take a pause between sips of Guinness to have a look at the mountain. You may notice something different about it. Yip, those green-as-a-leprechaun floodlights. Table Mountain will be illuminated tonight from 8pm until midnight to mark Irish holiday St Patrick’s Day.
Described as a holy grail for South African historians, the gun Nelson Mandela buried almost 50 years ago is nowhere near being reunited with its original proprietor. The owner of the property where the gun is supposedly buried, originally part of Liliesleaf farm, is at loggerheads with museum officials representing the Liliesleaf Trust.
One hears all these news reports about around the world, but there is nothing like visuals to demonstrate what these poor people are going through as we speak. In this video you’ll witness the apparent killing of an unarmed protester at point blank range by military forces loyal to king Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The European Union is attempting to establish the “right to be forgotten online,” as a legislative response to embarrassing old data – risque photographs, stupid statuses – that refuse to disappear. The proposed bit of legislation would enforce higher privacy settings and offer greater user control.
This is truly an amazing and compelling visual indication of the extent of the damage caused by the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. Simply move the slider to compare before and after satellite images of the damage caused. It’s unbelievable.
A grade 1 teacher from the Orchards Primary School just outside Centurion in Gauteng has been suspended by the schools governing body after pupils claim she called them k*****s. She now also faces a disciplinary hearing next week. Apparently she also called them “black monkeys”. But, has she been levelled with false accusations?
Nine days to go, my friends. And you how things happen here in Cape Town – everyone wakes up at the last minute. Last year’s party saw 50% of the tickets sold in the last three days, resulting in a lot of disappointment for a lot of people. With nine days left to go, and […]
Chris Rock reckons that all of us have at least one gay uncle. If that is the case, the ACDP and FF+, might have just lost a lot of votes in the upcoming elections. A motion for Parliament to congratulate South Africa’s new Mr. Gay World winner, Francois Nel, has been blocked by these two parties. Gaga is not going to be happy about this.
This hurts me somewhere deep inside. A customer disgusted by the poor service at Lamborghini China service station responded to the situation by hiring a mob with sledgehammers to tear into his Lamborghini Gallardo L140 – this, apparently, to draw attention to poor customer service.
Confirmed!
The Sharks will be playing their game against the Crusaders at Twickenham on March 27.
Predictable Shaik A Free Man – Shabir Shaik is a free man. A parole supervision committee investigation yesterday cleared him of assaulting a man at a mosque in Durban. He has also been cleared of violating his parole conditions. Correctional Services regional commissioneer Mnikelwa Nxele said there was no evidence to support the allegation of […]
As if we didn’t have enough public holidays already, here’s another one. May the 18th is the day of the local government elections and great president Zuma has declared it a public holiday, so we can all vote, safe in the knowledge that another day in the country’s economy won’t be productive at all.
Crusty rocker Bryan Adams is about to become a dad for the first time. At 51, Adams – who is responsible for nostalgic pop anthems ‘Summer of 69′ and ’18 Til I Die’ – clearly believes it’s never too late to have a happy childhood. Or, for that matter, to have a child.
Gauteng’s top brass are being flushed out again for misappropriation of taxpayers’ money. This time it’s totalling a little over R12 million since 2005 on lavish refurbishments and renovations to the official Bryanston residence of the Gauteng Premier.
Did you get a slightly uneasy feeling when you discovered Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl was a Disney movie? Mild surprise may be a better description, well – you may have experienced a similar feeling when you found that Captain Jack Sparrow, better known as Johnny Depp, is Rango. That’s right… […]
Finally, some good news out of Japan! Imagine being a Japanese foreign student in America, having no way of knowing if your family on the other side of the world survived the tsunami that rocked the region last week, until you find a YouTube video, confirming their survival. It’s okay, I also had to wipe my eyes afterward.
This has been generating some online discussion – a video of a dude hijacking billboards in Times Square using an iPhone 4, a transmitter, a balloon and some tape, like a geeky MacGyver. The feeling at the moment is that this is a publicity stunt, but if so it’s an awesome-looking stunt.
