To get the “impossible shot” – a bird’s-eye view of a Great White launching an attack from below – Andy Casagrande and his team headed to an area in the vicinity of Gansbaai, in the Western Cape, that has a healthy Great White population.
Watching athletes win gold at the Olympic games this year was certainly fun. Click through for some priceless happiness.
Of all the things that attract people to the Olympics, record-breaking performances are surely near the top of the list. People sit in anticipation at the venues, or huddled around TVs at home and in pubs, waiting for records which once seemed inconceivable to be smashed by the latest crop of top athletes. And then four years on, they do it again, ad infinitum, or will they?
It would seem Facebook is getting scarier and scarier every day. A new technology is being tested that will place a camera outside a building, which will use your Facebook pictures to recognise you and then check you in and offer you a special deal. Cool, or creepy?
My buddy Justin sent these through and he asked if I had seen them before. Indeed I had, and I actually receive the same set quite regularly, but I’m not sure if they have been published before on 2oceansvibe. I certainly can’t find them anyway. Have a gander – they’re rad!
Bloomberg is reporting that BlackBerry maker, Research In Motion, will indeed be licensing BlackBerry 10.
Who would have thought that over 50 “hard-working” Johannesburgers would manage to tear themselves from their desks and celebrate Friday afternoon off, Cape Town style. WELL DONE GUYS!
Team SA arrived back in South Africa this morning. They landed at OR Tambo International Airport after taking part in the Olympic Games in London. They were welcomed back by a large crowd, including schoolchildren who were there to cheer for their hero’s. Our athletes brought back six medals. Check out all the action below.
The man known as the ‘Facebook Rapist’ described in detail yesterday at the Cape Town High Court how he killed young model Nomfundo Tyhulu last year. He is already serving 50 years for raping and robbing two other models.
If you’re not aware that app design is one of the most in-demand skills in today’s marketplace, then we probably can’t help you. For those of you who ARE aware and for those of you who want to swop a dull corporate life for a career as an app building machine, this is your calling. […]
Unless you’re currently in some kind of deep space training program, or you have some diabolical plan that no one knows about, the chances are pretty slim that you’ll ever actually get to set foot on Mars. Thankfully, we’ve got the next best thing for you, a fully interactive 360° panorama from the surface of the Red Planet. Enjoy.
Texas gunman dies after killing cop. Robert Pattinson breaks silence. Tutu tries to stop reality show. Online gaming boom in SA. Miranda Kerr takes it off. Microsoft introduces ‘do not track’ option. R2.8 billion lottery jackpot mayhem.
It’s a big, rich wine and it’s a bargain. I prefer the latter to the former, but it’s such a deal I thought it worth writing about. Everybody loves a good bargain. That’s the appeal of flea-markets and second-hand shops. I recently found awesome steam-punk styled salt ‘n pepper grinders for R100. The joy of […]
A few days LEGO® celebrated its 80th birthday and to commemorate the occasion they made a touching animated short which traces the origins of the company from its very humble beginnings to its now almost ubiquitous presence. If you’ve ever laid your hands on the famous bricks, which I truly hope you have, watch this and try not to reminisce at least a bit.
Undisputed fasted man alive, Usain Bolt, is fast. Really fast. The New York Times has already compared him to every other 100m athlete that’s ever run in the 100m event, but how would he compare against something that isn’t human? Like the force of gravity?
We were this morning experiencing a rather large sport comedown at the 2oceansVibe Media Compound, but then this unbelievably inspirational Ryan Sandes video found its way into the office.
These pictures are shocking, but the story behind them is even worse. Terror investigator Neil Doyle uncovered the images after authorities carried out a raid on a school in Mogadishu. These children were kidnapped by Al Qaeda in Somalia and were being brainwashed so that they could be used in future attacks on the West. The children – some as young as seven – were chained up to beds while they were taught an extreme version of Islam.
The Olympics are officially and you’ve undoubtedly been left with a gaping void in desperate need of filling. Seeing as the next epic installment is four long years away, it’s best to start weening yourself off slowly as soon as possible and what better way to begin that process than with an awesome gallery of multi-exposure photographs from this year’s games.
Anyone who knows anything about media and in particular international supermodels (hipsters, you might need to close your eyes and ears at this point) will be interested in the fact that Australian supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw was recently in Cape Town.
It’s no secret that here at 2oceansvibe we’re rather fond of London mayor Boris Johnson. Who wouldn’t be? He must have had a rough two weeks, running the city during the world’s largest event, so it seems only natural he’d let his hair down at the closing ceremony.
The Olympics are over, but which country really ranks where on the medal table? There is no official way of ranking the medal count because the media decides.
Out filming a heritage train at North Creek, New York, this trainspotter has truly earned the title “foamer” – a term for people excessively enthusiastic about trains. His joyful video of a 1953 EA train has become a YouTube hit and led to many dubbing him “the world’s most excited trainspotter”. Very special..
SARU have released new laws regarding concussions and side-of-the-field assessments. How exactly will this work and does it not open up the chance of abuse? Sides could claim a player is concussed, so that they can make a substitution. Right? Or not? Bob Skinstad and Tank Lanning discussed the ins and outs of the new laws. Click to listen.
Last night the 2012 Olympics came to a grand end with the official closing ceremony. A scale model of London took centre stage and was wrapped entirely in newspaper. Damien Hirst interpreted the Union Flag by using members of the crowd, and black London cabs performed a taxi ballet.
I’m glad this has happened, because it sparks an interesting debate regarding luxury consumerism and expectations. In this case it’s to do with two 1st Class passengers on a Qantas flight from LA to Melbourne. Did they do the right thing or were they being ridiculous?
Yip, that’s what we do for you at Groupon. We trawl through all the deals and find the ones that suit you! Because you (should) have an iPhone and you tend to struggle with battery life. Not any more, my fine feathered friends. These things usually cost around R600, but here they are, right now, […]
When complete nut-job James Holmes applied for a place on a prestigious neuroscience doctoral programe last year at the University of Illinois, along with his CV and application, he added what any aspiring neuroscientist would add: a picture of himself feeding a llama.
Kevin Pietersen dropped for spicy texts. Video of Spice Girls at Olympic closing ceremony. Jennifer Aniston is engaged. Roy McIlroy Wins US PGA. Goldman predicted exact number of GB medals.
Malta. Middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Occupied for hundreds of years by marauding Ottoman Turks, Crusaders, the British – you name it. Some country you know has probably made an attempt at conquering the cluster of three islands – Malta, Gozo and Comino. Malta is not a destination that you think of when contemplating a […]
OMG! Ed Roland, frontman of the legendary international rock group Collective Soul, has just been added to this year’s Heineken Symphonic Rocks!
