Henry Rollins… where to start? This guy has been around the block, starting out as vocalist for Black Flag in the early 80’s, and promiscuously hopping between all sorts of occupations, bringing his intense gaze along for the ride. In no particular order Rollins has fulfilled the rolls of a journalist, activist and even a […]
An extraordinary man on an extraordinary journey. In March 2011 Drew Milne did what no man has done before him. He embarked on an epic 16 000km, with only a Vespa between him and the open road. His ‘Vescapade’ (it’s a thing you guys!) took him to exotic places like India and Milan.
Oh dear. This is unfortunate. A billboard owner in southern India is enjoying the fruits of a marketing meltdown after signage dedicated to the memory of Nelson Mandela featured Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King Jr, and… Yep, Morgan Freeman.
We’d like to introduce to one Dylan Frances Penn. Yes, she’s Sean Penn’s daughter. Yes, we also had no idea that she was this easy on the eyes. Please enjoy this pic published in GQ, accompanying an interview in which she discusses the possible romance between her and Kirsten Stewart’s jilted ex, Robert Pattinson. Hey? […]
Set to Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start the Fire’, this awesome parody throws in all the messy, cringe worthy and just plain ridiculous celeb scandals that clogged up newswaves this year. Comedian Owen Weber produces slam dunk after slam dunk as he rapidly belts out already silly headlines with his own unique twist.
Not only is Stiller directing this remake, he’s also managed to lure Kirstin Wig, Adam Scott and the stellar Sean Penn (his breakout film was a comedy) onto the cast list. The trailer itself is perhaps one of the best this year, with breathtaking cinematography, cutscenes that illustrate Walter Mitty’s beautiful but very delusional imagination, and a soundtrack that no one can argue with.

For as long as technology has existed, people have had nightmares of Nokia 3330’s and microwaves becoming conscious, hell-bent warlords, enslaving us in our sleep. On a serious note though, with the growing capacity of self-aware, self-improving machines, maybe it’s a touch normal to be afraid. That’s what Matt Miller of the Washington Post seems […]

This open letter to Jacob Zuma was written by South African academic, Barney Pityana in February of this year. Given Jacob Zuma’s recent dip in public popularity, it’s no surprise that the letter is enjoying a renewed bout of attention. In the letter, Pityana says South Africa is “in shambles, and the quality of life of […]

The ‘Supreme Leader’ of North Korea, Kim Jong-un is swirling around the internet again, after making headlines earlier this month for having his very own uncle executed. Despite the fact that the North Korean Military government censors at least six things before breakfast, there’s is no shortage of Kim Jong-un pictures, and The Telegraph have published a gallery that is just every kind of weird. Highlights include the Supreme Leader testing a mattress for firmness, having a bit too much fun on a roller-coaster ride, and smoking a cigarette in a hospital (huh?). I predict that 2014 will be chock full of even more crazy photos from this guy, and maybe if we are lucky can even get some Kim Jong-un street style shots.
Man… Where has this year gone? As 2014 slowly creeps upon us a good old friend called reflection kicks in, and hijacks our mind to think about the ups, downs and everything in between that occurred during 2013. Although it would be mind-blowingly impossible to summarize the year, the awesome filmmaker Jean-Louis Nguyen has done just that, creating a six minute video montage of the year’s most headline making moments.
Apparently using a selection of family birthdays, and throwing in a lucky number actually works when picking lottery numbers. Check this out.
Danish film director Lars Von Trier has a hard time compromising his vision, so it comes as no surprise that Von Trier’s most recent endeavour ‘Nymphomaniac’ is five hours long. The movie follows a sex addict named Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg) throughout eight chapters, vividly detailing her sexual journey using porn stars as body doubles for scenes of unstimulated sex. Selected press got their hands on an abridged and censored four hour version, and although it’s too early to say, it seems to be faring well, with The Telegraph’s Tim Robey giving it four out of five stars.

“Doing good has never been easier.” That’s the tagline thrown into each video, indicating that everybody at the table has done something incredibly altruistic for the benefit of mankind. The new series entitled ‘The Good Guys’ contrasts the historical figures Jesus, Gandhi and Mother Teresa with your average Joe, and shows how a few simple mouse clicks is enough to make a difference and score the Mr Average a seat at the table with the greats.
