“Food Not Bombs” in Orlando, Florida, has been distributing free meals to homeless people for the past 30 years. A ridiculous new law now prohibits food distribution to the homeless without a permit – resulting in the arrest of 25 volunteers. Check out this guy, employing severe sarcasm tactics in order to respond to the police and their “we are only doing our job” reasoning.
Over the weekend, Shannon Stone, a firefighter, tried to catch a ball thrown into the stands during a game. What is normally great fun at these events, turned into a tragedy, as he lost his footing and plunged six meters to his death. What’s worse is that his young son can also be seen in the video and witnessed everything.
I think a lot of us forget that homeless people are actual people with talents just like the rest of us – sometimes it’s just hidden under some rags and dirt. Take this urban camper for instance: if you were to walk past him, chances are you would not even notice him. But click on this video and you’ll hear something you won’t soon forget.
We all have our days when we forget to charge our phones, or simply exploit its battery power to the limit, and then end up offline, as it were. This is soon to become a problem of the past though because a French telecom company, called Orange, has big plans to save us all from the low-battery blues.
“My nipples were so cold they started talking to me.” I don’t know where to begin. There is simply too much awesome in these videos for me to add anything else. That would spoil it. Ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to make your day, nay, your weekend, by checking out Jean-Claude Van Damme in these beer commercials for Coors Light.
Hugh Grant has joined the fray against the News Corp phone hacking calamity and was on hand to deliver his personal perspective of things outside the British House of Commons yesterday. He told the BBC that Margaret Thatcher was an undignified sycophant and that every prime minister since then has basically tickled Murdoch’s belly for him.
A Dutch TV show looking for the “worst driver in the Netherlands” has found a clear winner. During filming of the last episode, this guy had to accelerate up to speed, apply the brake and swerve to miss a giant obstacle. Instead of breaking, he opted for accelerating – ploughing into the camera crew set up, hitting two people, including the host, and one parked car.
Helen Zille, Premier of the Western Cape and undercover online enthusiast, will be co-hosting 2oceansVibe Radio‘s Morning Meeting with Lindsay Williams and Richard Hardiman at 09h00 this coming Thursday morning. Helen is, of course, no stranger to the 2oceansVibe Media franchise. You’ll remember her magnificent performance as a 2oceansVibe Weather Girl in November 2009. This […]
Vocal genius, Matt Mulholland, has produced yet more hilarity by over-dubbing the famous lobby shoot-out scene in The Matrix, using only his voice. The video is complete with score and loads of “pew pews” for the gun sounds. It’s hilarious and reminds me that there was once a time where not every shoot-out scene in a movie looked like this one.
A female mayor from Davao City in the Philippines has punched a court sheriff, in front of numerous TV cameras, because the sheriff insisted on demolishing 200 shacks despite her request for a two-hour delay. She’s since been told by her husband to take leave for five days while the Department of Interior and Local Government investigates.
The Australian women’s football team, the Matildas, have recorded their first win in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 after they defeated Equatorial Guinea 3-2 in their second Group D match in Bochum, Germany, on Sunday. Fortunately, a bizarre handball moment that occurred during the match didn’t go all Thierry Henry on them.
“Jy speel op Avbob se stoep!” If you aren’t familiar with this Afrikaans saying, get Johan in the office to translate it for you. This is exactly what the dove in this video is busy doing. Watch as this cheeky bugger sides up to a sleeping cat and… no, rather watch it yourself. This is too priceless to spoil!
Michael Bay, womaniser, loon and director of brilliant movies, such as Pearl Harbor and the Transformers trilogy, has been caught cheating… again, this around time by recycling footage from The Island and using it for Transformers 3.
The twins officially launched their second studio album today, Running To Midnight, and with that, a rather interesting music video for one of the new singles – Stars Above You. The video is pretty well executed and features a rather intense looking Siberian Husky.
In their never-ending pursuit to find nuts, squirrels can sometimes forget to look left and right before crossing the road. The end result of this is not always nice, trust me, I work in Stellenbosch and see this daily. But check out this cheeky bugger – attempting to outrun a Lamborghini LP670-4 SV going at 160km per hour. That’s bold!
With team names like Hell’s Angelfish and Gold Fusion, it was always going to be hard to take this seriously. So, as we strike the hour that is the Cape Town Friday Rule, we bring you human torpedo racing. Think of the scene in Zoolander when Derek and Hansel and the boys spray petrol everywhere. Brace yourselves.
8 bit Invader (maping) from Darkfejzr on Vimeo.
A projection mapping by the Czech designer Pavel Novák turns the façade of a university building into a mash-up of 80’s video games – running the gamut from Pac-Man to Space Invaders. It’s called 8-bit Invader. The initial screening was for the 5th anniversary of Tomas Bata University’s department of visual arts in Zlín, Czech Republic.
This video illustrates what happens when you try to demolish a building with a pneumatic hammer instead of getting an expert demolition team to do it.
You guys remember that VW commercial that ran during the Superbowl with a tiny Darth Vader? Well, Greenpeace does. And they’ve made a spoof follow-up in an effort to call attention to the automaker’s environmental record. Liberal media sentiments aside, it’s cute – click through for a tiny Vader and a Message About The Environment.
I come from a rich musical background and was raised – in more ways than one – on the likes of Billy Joel. “Billy Joel Kids” have a very special connection with each other, and tend to avoid songs like Pianoman and Uptown Girl. Not to be snobs about it – but more because those two tunes […]
You’ve got to see this with your own two eyes. The existence of a previously ‘unknown’ group of indigenous Brazilian people has just been confirmed, and the footage is fascinating.
The infamous red leather jacket worn by the deceased king of pop, Michael Jackson, in his renowned Thriller video, has sold this weekend at an auction in California, for $1.8 million. That is a cool R12.4 million at today’s exchange rate. The jacket also boasts Jackson’s signature on the one sleeve.
A video has surfaced of a shiny disc-like object flying over London. And, as you can imagine, the first explanations around it obviously involve aliens, because, you know, that makes total sense. See if you can figure out what this UFO is – the way it keeps popping up for a clear camera shot makes me suspicious.
We are working on a new series, which is dedicated to finding the ultimate short-cuts around the streets of Cape Town. We will also be doing one for Johannesburg. But, for now, we want to gather the best ones in Cape town. So if YOU know of a secret short-cut on the roads of Cape […]
The King of Pop was selfishly snatched from us two years ago today. I’m sure anyone who saw me spilling blood on the dance floor at Taboo in my late teens, will attest to the fact that Mike was a major influence on the relationship I had with the dance floor. I would often woo […]
Anderson Cooper is your classic American television news presenter. He could’ve been an old guy with grey hair doing expensive wrist watch adverts, but he’s not. Instead, he’s one of CNN’s better journalists and his confidence grew exponentially after he went to report on the Egyptian revolution. His social commentary is also getting funnier too.
So the employees at Legoland California decided to pull a prank on general manager Peter Rochetti, by replacing his Volvo XC60 with a life-sized replica made of these Lego bricks they just had lying around. 201,076 bricks, in fact. It’s hard working at Legoland.
