News broadcasts, albeit informative, are often boring affairs lacking the flair that many viewers hope for, that is at least until Cassetteboy gets hold of a copy. Their latest ‘remix’ features the BBC’s George Alagiah reporting on issues that would make any political pundit cringe.
No journalist has ever gained access to Foxconn, the secretive company that builds all the beautiful iPads and iPhone and Macbooks that Apple gets us to consume like sweeties. ABC’s show Nightline managed to gain access to this factory which employs 250 000 people and is the size of a city (they also make products […]

Microsoft has launched a fascinating attack on Google Apps. In this instalment, Microsoft uses the American television series, Moonlighting, which aired during the mid 1980’s, to give us the spoof: Googlighting. Microsoft asks: “What happens when the world’s largest ad sales business tries to sell productivity software on the side?” It’s Microsoft Office versus Google Apps.
Do you remember when Jeb Corliss was jumping off Table Mountain in his wingsuit in January, and one of his jumps didn’t go as well as he’d planned? Well, he’s just released the footage showing the accident from his point of view, filmed from his GoPro cameras, as well as various angles from the other cameramen that were filming at the time.
An intelligent billboard set up in London has facial recognition tech built in that lets it scan passersby for gender – if a woman stops to take a look, it plays a 40-second video clip. Dudes only get a link to the advertiser’s website. It’s like they’re trying to send a message or something.
Do you wonder if you won one of the 10 X R500 Sunglass Hut Vouchers? Or one of the 5 X cases of Boschendal bubbly? Or one of the 5 X cases of De Grendel rosé? Or, better yet, maybe it was YOU who won the iPad 2, from Digicape? Winners were picked by a […]
Indulging in a tirade of cursing, before starting a fight outside the Tower of Terror ride at the Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, a 53-year old man was pepper-sprayed into submission before being taken into custody by park security.
It all started on Twitter, right after the Grammys. Presumably it was a bunch of young kids, born too late to really understand who Paul McCartney is and was. Tweets left and right started asking: Who the fuck is Paul McCartney? Funny or Die took it upon themselves to explain to the world exactly who the man is. Video after the jump.
This is one of the better videos you will see in this lifetime. Very often these videos are quite iffy, with some viewers questioning if the footage did in fact show what it promised. In this case the guy (the husband of the President of Finland) was so busted, that he even pulled a ‘Picasso’ […]
For around two weeks each February, the sunset turns the Horsetail Falls in Yosemite Park, California into an incredible bright orange “firefall” that looks like flowing lava. And it’s happening right now – take a look at the video after the jump.
Richard Levi, a former Wynberg Boys High cricketer, shattered two world records for the Proteas in New Zealand yesterday. Levi led our successful run chase in the second T20 against New Zealand in Hamilton ending on an unbeaten 117 off 51 balls, leveling the three-match series in the process.
A couple of months ago, the guys from Jax Panik and iScream & the Chocolate Stix asked you to help write them some new lyrics. They took their favourite entries into studio, added some music, and would now like to know what you think of the results. Both songs are available for free download – after the jump.

A bus driver has been jailed after he used his vehicle to ram a cyclist off the road – catapulting the rider three metres through the air, and resulting in a broken leg and fractured wrist. Moments prior to the collision, the two had an argument at a roundabout, with the cyclist said to have “tugged at one of the bus’ windscreen wipers.” Checkout a video of the incident after the jump.

Jade Adami and Mat Gardner, on behalf of Little Big Productions, recently asked 50 Capetonians the same question. They then compiled and edited all the footage into this huggable video – uploaded to YouTube on Valentine’s Day. But what was the question? There’s only one way to find out…
Here’s a little video from the people at peopleforbikes.org. If you’re a cyclist, this will make your chest warm with the delight of an extra ten kilometers on a crisp autumn morning. If you’re not a fan, then please make sure you’re sitting down, because this much shit that cyclists say in one go will induce a rage blackout. Believe me.
Yesterday Julius Malema’s struggle with the South Africa’s judicial system surfaced in the media. See the video of him discussing his love-hate relationship with his white lawyers inside, but also keep an eye on our boy’s outfit. Once again he reminds us that just because you are a beret-wearing revolutionary, there is no excuse for not popping at least two collars in the process.
Hoo-ha. That teaser trailer for the new Die Antwoord album, Ten$ion, got pulled from the internet (which means they’ve officially taken it down – obviously it’s still around) because artist Jane Alexander, whose anti-apartheid sculpture the trailer strongly references, told them to. They’re in legal discussions presently.
Yesterday PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) launched their new viral campaign to encourage people to “go vegan”. Unfortunately for them, what they apparently intended as a tongue-in-cheek ad has sparked outrage and concern by painting a sad picture of domestic abuse and violence.
Last week 2oceansVibe correctly doubted the authenticity of footage that claimed a woolly mammoth had been spotted by a government-employed engineer in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia. The video became an internet sensation, making headlines around the world. But now everyone is having a laugh at The Sun, Michael Cohen and Barcroft Media.
Here’s our first taste of a sweet little piece of cinematography coming our way later this year from producer Tim Burton, and director Timur Bekmambetov (of Russia’s Day Watch and Night Watch fame), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter!

Americans seem to have an insatiable appetite for high-energy, adrenalin fueled sports laced with machoism and violence. Their latest “sport” is no exception; it’s a crude mix of soccer, American football, ice hockey without the skates, a dash of WWE and police brutality.
Whitney Houston, the pop singer who dominated world charts in the 80s and 90s, has died, aged 48. The I Wanna Dance With Somebody singer was found in the Beverly Hilton hotel. There is great excitement in Cape Town after the discovery of a ship found buried in a pit on the construction site at the No. 1 Silo at the V&A Waterfront. Read more about the excavation process, and see a video of the process, after the jump.
There’s nothing we love more than incredibly lame fake video, and this one is a doozy. An engineer surveying for a planned road claims to have taken video of an actual wooly mammoth crossing an icy river in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia.
