Honestly – do people not know that CCTV cameras see everything? Apparently not. In the latest episode of ‘smile, you’re on CCTV,’ 22 year-old Dinara, from Turkey, attempts to sell her baby at an airport for R5,000.
This kid has clearly not seen a day without playing football. How else could he be this good at such a young age? We’ve seen all the pros do some fancy flicks on the sidelines, like Mesut Ozil’s chewing gum trick, but we’ve never been given a performance quite like this one.
As I write this (retrospectively), it’s the beginning of the final day of the Run2Stop Challenge. We’ve travelled almost 600 kilometres, and in that time we’ve busted knees, come close to cutting off fingers, harpooned rocks with steel rods, built jungle gyms from scratch, and suffered heat-induced delirium. But we’ve also found out a few […]
What do you do if you want a live feed on your smartphone that displays all of your body’s biometric data? You shove a massive computer chip under your skin, of course. Tim Cannon, a biohacker, recently became the first person to have one of these implanted – and it looks pretty painful.
This is some of the worst driving you will ever see. Not simply because of the actual driving, but because of the driving philosophy held by the driver in question – it boggles the mind.
Local film maker, Ben Jay Crossman got in touch with us recently to share his video series, titled ‘The Streets Of Fietas’. The series is a stark insight into the lives of the residents of one of Johannesburg’s poorest suburbs, as they battle drug addiction. This is part two of three.
If you’re somewhat disenchanted with how quickly the honeymoon was over for you and iOS7, you may want to rekindle your love for the piece of technology that you spend more time with than anything else by taking a deeper look into its innermost being, and finding new, fresh delights. For your pleasure, we present these iOS7 tips and tricks.
Remember the Crazy Nasty Ass Honeybadger? The viral video that nailed over 63 million views? The same guy who did that video found out about the tweeting badger from the Jo’Burg Zoo, and gave him the same treatment. Check it out.
Day three of the Continental Run2Stop challenge dawned bright and clear in Rustenburg. The runners had set out at 6am to complete a gruelling 45km course, followed shortly thereafter by the cyclists, who cranked out another 120km+ ride in intense heat. Our amateur (but kickass) cyclist Greg Black was joined by Wicus, who replaced our […]
In yet another series of pranks – Kimmel invited parents all over America to trick their kids. Now, while trick-or-treating is fairly foreign to South African kids, American kids take it very, very seriously. And if they don’t get their fair share, all hell breaks loose.
If you think this is a story about a talking dog, you’re wrong. This is a groundbreaking story about what researchers at Duke University are calling “the most scientifically important dog in over a century.”
Remember the other day Justin Bieber was spotted leaving a brothel? And then he also stormed off stage when someone through a bottle at him? Well now we have this video, courtesy of the one prostitute.

If you have a MacBook and an iPhone, you can bid the annoying task of having to enter your lock screen password dozens of times a day, goodbye. A new app called Knock launched yesterday, which pairs your iPhone and Mac via bluetooth. When a phone is in bluetooth range of the paired mac, it’s […]
Weighing in at 445 kilograms at his heaviest, Paul Mason was the worlds fattest man. Constricted to his bed because of massive bulk, the 52 year-old had to consume 20,000 calories a day just to keep himself going. That was until he underwent a mammoth surgery procedure at the NHS, which helped him get rid of a staggering 300 kilograms of fat. Now that he’s lean – he’s managed to bag himself a woman with the help of the internet. The fat guy’s got game.
Previously unheard audio recordings of Marilyn Monroe will be used in a new ad for Chanel’s iconic fragrance. In the clip, Monroe confirms that she doesn’t wear much when she goes to bed, only Chanel No.5.
It’s inevitable. If you’re in the spotlight at a relatively young age, and proceed to stay in the spotlight until middle-age – you’re going to need a makeover of sorts to keep the hordes interested. Jennifer Aniston has always had that very approachable, friendly girl-next-door vibe. She never strayed too far with the norm, and earned many fans by doing just that.
Right. When you’re expecting a child, you’re also expected to make some sort of announcement, have a baby shower, or some sort of event that pre-empts the possibility of one of your friends complaining that ‘you didn’t tell them’. Most people tend to do it the old fashioned way, and some don’t even bother. But one couple from North Salt Lake City decided to do something a little different.
If you recall, we posted a story last week about Kanye West’s showstopping proposal to Kim Kardashian. Later, we managed to acquire some actual video footage of the proposal – and it is that video footage that is now involved in a major court case, where Kim K is looking to sue YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley for posting a video of the proposal online at his new Internet venture MixBit.
This is awesome. A busker in Berlin was caught on camera by a passer-by when he was playing ‘Smalltown Boy’ by Bronski Beat. Halfway through, a bald man and his dog approach him as the man begins to chime in. Surprisingly, he sings pretty well. The busker doesn’t seem too fazed by the whole ordeal, until he realises that the bald man just happens to be Bronski Beat’s legendary frontman, Jimmy Somerville.
Modern life, we love you so much. It was reported earlier this week that all 11 passengers survived the midair collision of two light aircraft in the States. The survival of most of the people aboard the planes was no doubt thanks to the fact that they were all preparing to skydive from one of the craft, and as such all had parachutes strapped to their backs. And yes, someone got it on video.
This video is going to be better than you expect – trust me. It’s the masterpiece of one Matthijs Vlot, who is basically a video remix genius. He spends hours cutting and chopping video, and piecing it back together to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Literally.
This is a bit of a weird one. You would expect the star of movies like ‘True Grit’ and ‘No Country For Old Men’ to put up a decent bar fight, but this is just embarrassing. The 45 year-old seemed to be trying to take down a bouncer at O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Santa Monica. He was outraged because the bouncer had told him that the pub was closing for the night – and he was prepared to fight to keep it open.
“Lets go do a show in Brazil,” Bieber’s manager said. “It will be so relaxing,” he said. Well, after what has been a very hectic week in Brazil, it doesn’t look like JB will be going back any time soon. First, he attempts to leave a brothel under a bed sheet, but gets caught anyway. And now this. It feels as if, by some divine mercy, some sort of deity has heard the worlds’ anti-Bieber sentiments, and has answered them oh so swiftly.
We get sent links to cool stuff all the time. Sometimes the cool stuff is genuinely cool, sometimes it just isn’t. But every once in a blue moon we get an absolute gem sent to us – something from the deep web that mainstream media hasn’t been able to pick up quite yet. This time it’s a music video from somewhere in South Africa.
Meet Jean-Philip Grobler, aka St. Lucia. Originally from Johannesberg, St. Lucia grew up performing with the Drakensberg Boys Choir School in KwaZulu-Natal. Nowadays he lives in Brooklyn, and is blowing up on the New York music scene. On October 31 he posted the following announcement to the band’s Facebook page:
The [insert country]’s Got Talent franchise just keeps on cropping up with so many gems. If it’s not an ugly woman who can melt your face with her singing, it’s a ridiculously precocious little kid who can play the piano like Beethoven. There just no end to the amount of people who have talent – despite their limitations.
Our collective fascination with the extra-terrestrial is never-ending. We always seem to be able to come up with new ways of tricking ourselves into believing that there are indeed aliens floating around earth. Whether it’s crop-circles, weird lights in the sky or strange things in the water – we are constantly reminded that more often than not, we’re just spooking ourselves. This time, it’s the American drones that are to blame.
Andrew Merryweather was a normal boy leading a normal life. That is, until a brutal assault involving eight schoolboys in Claremont left him paralyzed from the chest down. Now permanently wheelchair-bound, Andrew has become accustomed to his new life on wheels – but this doesn’t mean he’s given up. His determination to walk again just might make him Cape Town’s first bionic man.
There’s been plenty of talk about how awesome Elon Musk is. The guy has become something of an enigma, what with him being the CEO & CTO of SpaceX and CEO & Chief Product Architect of Tesla Motors. He’s also in the news for his ideas to turn James Bonds Lotus Esprit submarine-car into a real submarine – and for his grand ideas for the construction of the hyperloop.
