The 34th America’s Cup finals are set to start on Sept. 7. The defending champions, Oracle Team USA (lead by Oracle founder Larry Ellison), will take on Emirates Team New Zealand. These teams have spent more than $100 million each, building the fastest sailboats the race has ever seen, the AC72.

A teenage girl from the Netherlands sailed into St Maarten harbour on Saturday, ending a year long solo journey around the globe. The Guinness World Records has said it’s not going to back that up though. It no longer recognises records for youngest sailors because it wants to discourage dangerous attempts.

Paul Allen’s Yacht Helicopter Ditches In The Ocean

Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, and holder of the title of “worst teeth for a rich person” also happens to own the world’s second largest yacht – The Octopus. One of the logistical tentacles of the Octopus is a helicopter used to ferry crew and guests to and from the vessel. It crashed into the ocean. Click for the pic.
