Apart from being charged with the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, Oscar Pistorius will face two extra charges when he appears in court on 19 August. eNCA reports that Pistorius will face two extra counts of recklessly discharging a firearm in public.

Quotas are back. The new quota system introduced by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) will result in more black talent on the fields. The system will be introduced in domestic rugby as of next year. A 22 man squad will need seven players of colour, five in the starting team and at least two as part of the forwards.

Eyewitness News report that the cops have concluded their investigation of Oscar Pistorius, who shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The state will now serve their indictment on him, ahead of his return to court on August 19 – Reeva’s 30th birthday.

Maria Sharapova has topped the earnings list in women’s sport for the last calendar year, earning $29 million (R285 million) from June 2012 to June 2013. This is Sharapova’s ninth year at the top of the list. Of her $29 million earnings, $6 million came from prize money, while $23 million was the fruit of endorsement deals.
