Hollywood actor George Clooney has been arrested, in a further attempt to highlight the plight of Sudan. George was protesting in front of the Sudanese Embassy – with his father – when he was cuffed and taken into police custody. The Telegraph had this to say: George Clooney has been arrested and handcuffed during a […]
The rough and ready salt-of-the earth winemakers of South Africa have been known to, at times, give me kak for being a soft handed, soutie poofta who spends all his time drinking, and none of it working. And despite the fact that they are not entirely incorrect with this assessment, I readily took Adi Badenhorst (possibly the saltiest and earthiest of the lot) up on an offer to stay on his farm for a few days during the harvest, and help out.
Goldman Sachs lost $2,2 billion of its market value yesterday after Greg Smith – a South African-born Goldman “big shot” in Europe – chose to resign and write an opinion piece letter about Goldman’s corporate culture to the New York Times.
An-ex Cape Talk producer (verified), who wishes to remain anonymous at this point, has given us the following information on the topic of FM listenership figures and the exorbitant prices mainstream radio charges its clients. It should be mentioned that 2oceansvibe is not only regularly quoted as source in News24 and more recently Mail & Guardian, but now also mainstream TV News. We are very flattered at our mention in yesterday’s ETV News (SABC apparently also ran the story with reference to 2ov) regarding the police brutality video. Not that […]
North and South Koreas relationship is staid at best. They’ve been taunting each other for all of my life. The Korean War was in 1950 and the vibe hasn’t really improved since. North Korea threatens to blow up South Korea on an almost monthly basis and when you hear that two of their officials (one […]
Yesterday, 2oceansVibe ran a story about the brutal handling of an individual by a Vaalwater policeman. Instead of facing a charge of attempted murder, the officer involved is facing a lesser charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He also spent time as the acting station commander of Vaalwater Police Station, after the incident occurred.
It seems not even the current Queen of Pop can entice South African zefsters Die Antwoord to drop their awesome ‘tude. Here’s their response to her invitation to open for her upcoming world tour, as relayed to MTV Canada! Obviously, the video is gloriously N5FW:
Nelson Mandela’s former defence lawyer, and veteran human rights lawyer, George Bizos, has written to Parliament stating that the protection of state information bill is unconstitutional on several counts.
One of the exciting things about being an innovative company in this ever-changing digital space, is when one of your ideas/people gets picked up by a bigger, mainstream company. If you were wondering where Steven Morris, our anchor on the mobile-friendly 2ov TV (2ov.tv) show Rugby Vibe (see past episodes here) disappeared to, he has […]

As the #StopKONY juggernaut continues rampaging across the interwebs and social networks, some reporters have turned to Kony’s fellow Ugandans for comment on the video, and the Invisible Children organisation’s project to bring Joseph Kony to justice. Their opinions? Not positive.

I am completely flabbergasted at the amount of people who still think it is cool to call out of the blue. People who assume that you are available at that exact time. People who assume you want to take a chance in the hope that THAT particular call is not an annoying salesman or bank person. People […]
If you didn’t manage to get a load of the 2012 Argus Cycle Tour Campaign Song, which was branded by an apparent majority as both “revolting” and “embarrassing,” it’s too late I’m afraid – they’ve pulled it. This may well be the first instance in South African sporting history that an official song has been […]
Hell hath no fury like some idiot on Gumtree scorned it seems, because this ad was posted a few days ago on the site by a jilted boyfriend seeking a little person to exact revenge on the heartless harpy who broke his heart. No, really.

You don’t cross this bridge – it crosses you. A bridge that crosses the Morava river between Austria and Slovakia is in need of a name. In the spirit of democracy, the local government left it up to the people to decide. The result? The leading contender is to have the bridge named after martial-arts-expert-turned-actor, Chuck Norris.
Earlier today we told you about the violence that broke out during President Jacob Zuma’s ANC centenary address in Cape Town yesterday. An SABC cameraman even had a chair thrown in his face! See video footage of this incident, along with a full photo gallery of all the action, after the jump.
We’ve told you a lot about the shenanigans of SA’s Big Four banks recently. Yesterday a Twitter storm erupted around Standard Bank and FNB, with the former accusing FNB of misleading advertising. The irony? The mud-slinging quite quickly turned in the direction of Standard Bank, with Tweeters taking FNB’s side. Here’s a snapshot of what happened.
Every year at Budget Speech time, South Africans get concerned with how much we’ll have to cough up for petrol and beer in the year to come.
