Prince William seems like a decent bloke. Genetically though, he’s been dealt a difficult hand by life, in all her ruthless vagary. His father, Prince Charles – on the occasion of his painful press conference to mark his engagement to the fragrant, dim-witted, but virginal Lady Diana Spencer – so infamously replied to the question […]
Don’t you just love a good small town monster story? If any of you drove through the Karoo over the Easter weekend, you may have been lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the shape-shifting creature which has reportedly been terrorising the town of Steytlerville since the end of March.
We heard a rumour that a Lambo ended tyres-up after an accident on De Waal drive. The Twitterverse has been kind to us and we have a picture from the scene of the accident. We sincerely hope everyone involved walked away unharmed!
I wonder how many people asked that question on Sunday, when presented with that morning’s Sunday Times front page? I certainly did. But once my eyes had zoomed-in on the photo caption, I was reassured that the man was not Jay-Z’s new son-in-law, but rather the jeweler who sponsored her diamonds for the day. Good […]
It was at 02h33 just this morning when Dead American Writers cut through my sleep. I reached out to grab my ringing cellphone, my senses still dulled and drugged by the heavy slumber I had been so rudely pulled out of. Who the hell would call me at that hour? Was it my colleagues, about to breathlessly announce that we need a story chop-chop? Were the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse upon us? Had Nelson Mandela finally passed on?
Please enjoy this little vibe that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth rustled up, in order to give William and Kate’s marriage the go ahead. She refer to Kate as ‘trusty’ and peppers it with words like ‘realm’ and ”reign’ and ‘defender of the faith.’ All the bells and whistles. Check it out.
The blonde in the middle of that group-shot is cricket legend Allan Lamb‘s daughter, Katie-Ann. It was from a fundraiser shoot she did a couple years back, to raise awareness for breast cancer. Nice. Katie-Ann flew into Jo’burg from England especially to audition for Supersport’s new ‘Lady Rugga” vibe – in search of a female […]
Against a backdrop of a 51 man Springbok squad named by the Bok selectors this week, Morrey assesses options at loose forwar,d with a trophy to defend in September.
2oceansvibe had to turn down business from two different brands this last week. A lot of the haters out there don’t realise that. They don’t think it happens. It does. Constantly. That is why the lovers keep coming back here – because any exposure for any brand is genuine and they don’t mind the advertising. […]
The target of most of Cape Town’s single (and otherwise) women (and otherwise) was spotted leaving Hudsons Burger Joint on Kloof Street yesterday. As the word spread on Twitter, 2oceansvibe’s lensmen got into position and nabbed these shots of Ryan Reynolds for you. Follow the link to check them out.
You may knowingly or unknowingly be one of five million South Africans who have two Identity Documents, even if you don’t want two. Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said yesterday that they were able to determine this fact by checking the re-issue dates of documents. Simple, but brilliant.
For reasons that need not detain us, one day last week I found myself in the early hours of the morning watching the Hanna-Barbera cartoon “Stop the Pigeon”. If you ever feel that your mind is slightly out of synch with the rest of the world’s, and that perhaps you should visit a good nerve […]
According to the Facebook profile of a local Cape Town resident, Roman Abramovich is in town for the Jewish holy day of Passover (Pesach). Moreover, Roman will be spending it at this chap’s house. Look at you, kid.
A prominent US politician, Marilyn Davenport, is in trouble for sending out an email with a photo of chimpanzee parents and their infant. Barack Obama’s face is superimposed on the chimpanzee infant, and the caption reads: “Now you know why no birth certificate.” Her response to the whole matter, however, is even spicier.
This Sri Lankan girl got hit so hard by a moving train that she did a pretty impressive double spin. If this was ice skating, she’d have scored at least a 7,9. But instead of being thankful that she was only knocked unconscious for a couple of minutes, all she seems concerned about is finding her missing shoe.
Terrible things happen in Pretoria. Three people were killed when their drag race went horribly wrong on Voortrekker Road on 3 April. But that doesn’t mean that it’s anywhere near the best place to die in a car crash in this country.
Robert Mugabe has used the funeral of ZANU-PF intelligence chief Menard Muzariri to voice his concerns about tolerance towards homosexuality in Europe. See how masterfully he combines the words “unnatural”, “Gaydom”, and “filth” in a patriotic attempt to unite his country in the fight against moving into modern times.
Whilst a product of this nature may well be found in the back section of your local pharmacy, it is impressive to note that mainstream home-shopping chain, Checkers, is taking personal hygiene so seriously. A 2oceansviber spotted this sign in a local Checkers store. They certainly aren’t hiding such intimate products/kits in the back of […]
Donald Trump is many things. Once man’s tycoon is another’s cantankerous old curmudgeon. Our opinion of the man falls somewhere in between those two markers. Trump’s latest obsession is taking a permanent marker to negative press.
I’ve been talking to rugby people for the past seven weeks and the amount of anti-Peter De Villiers talk is very concerning. What do you want from the man? In the build up to the world cup I think we should put a ban on all “Snor” bashing.
Marshall Music popped-in to 2oceansvibe Radio yesterday and gave the broadcast desk a complete overhaul and fine-tuned the vibe to super-quality radio! So regular listeners will notice an immediate difference in quality of sound. And new listeners, well you guys can just settle right in! Remember the 2oceansvibe Radio website is also being totally overhauled and […]
After an emotional and hard-fought battle on the highveld, University of Cape Town (UCT) became rugby’s 2011 Varsity Cup winners last night against University of Pretoria (Tuks). UCT’s Ikey Tigers displayed impressive courage, mental strength and dare we say it, tiger blood, to beat Tuks 26-16 and emerge as champions for the first time since the tournament’s inception.
In the olden days, when certain people wanted to appear superior to everyone else in the room, they’d loudly proclaim, “Oh, but I don’t watch TV.” Usually in the middle of a riveting conversation on the exact hue of Tamara Dey’s lipstick, or something as earth-shatteringly important as that. “TV is filled with such junk, […]
There has been much speculation over the photograph of Stormers coach / ex-Springbok, Robbie Fleck, which graced the pages of the Cape Times and subsequently went ‘viral’ on the net just over a week ago. 2oceansvibe caught up with Fleck on Thursday to find out what was really going on in that photograph. Follow link […]
In what must have been the biggest surprise for everyone who attended, international rock star and Heidi Klum’s other half, Seal performed this weekend for a private function at Cape Town’s ‘Pepper Club’ on Loop Street. The event was to celebrate the 40th birthday of ex-pat South African businessman, Andre Crawford-Brunt, who currently lives in […]
If you’ve ever made your way to Mzoli’s in Gug’s, or even just to the Mzoli’s Butchery to pick up your whopping large lamb chops, you’ll be aware that this has the potential to be one hell of a vibe. Instead of washing down a tasting with a boring biscuit, we’ll probably be snacking on a piece of wors.
I’m going to jump straight into this because everyone I have told has begged me for the name of these guys – so there is no need to sugarcoat it – This shit sells itself. Their name is PrintWild.co.za and this is how their website works. It’s basically a joke. In a good way. It […]
There is a critical question we must answer ahead of September. Who should start at 10 for the Boks in this world cup year? How do we ensure that we select a fly half who can win us the tournament, and run the game?
It seems it’s all the rage to voice ones displeasure with how one finds things are going in court these days. Instead of it being an advocate this time, it’s a 71 year old “Brett Kebble-type character” from the Strand near Cape Town facing fraud charges. He had recently celebrated his 71st in Pollsmoor too.
“It’s called summer flu,” my friend said. I’d never heard of it. Summer flu? Sounded serious. Dangerous, even. My lower lip quivered. “It’s like normal flu, only it happens in the summer when it’s hot so it seems much, much worse,” my friend said. Oh. So I wasn’t dying after all. I must remember to put my doctor on speed dial, though. You can’t be too careful with this sort of thing.
