This one’s a gem. Officials at a prison in Moldova became a bit suspicious when they noticed a grey and white cat repeatedly entering and exiting the prison fence. You can imagine a pair of bulky slavic officials staring at the video footage over a few weeks, while it slowly dawns on them that this isn’t normal.

Although, due to their mysterious beachings after storms,and thier tendency to linger on the surface of the sea when they are dying – they are a common source of sea-serpent tales. The Japanese town of Taiji became synonymous with brutal dolphin slaying after the Oscar-winning, tear-jerking, doccie, ‘The Cove,’ was released. Sadly, regardless of the international recognition and fame the documentary received, dolphin hunting at the cove still takes place annually between September and April, and its about to get a whole lot darker.

Poachers in Zimbabwe mixed cyanide with salt, and used it to contaminate pools where elephants go to drink – quietly killing 41 elephants. Once the elephants died, their tusks were cut off and taken away, while the elephants’ bodies were left to rot.

A zoo in China thought they could get away with labelling a Tibetan mastiff as an “African Lion”. To be fair, the Tibetan mastiff is a rather large dog, with long hair and a lion-like mane. It kind-of looks like a lion. Too bad it barks though, which is what gave it away in the end.

This newborn giant Panda, Yuan Zai was reunited with its mother, Yuan Yuan after being separated for 12 months. The newborn is Taiwan’s first baby giant Panda. Baby Yuan Zai was born on 6 July 2013, but was injured only a few days later, resulting in the newborn being incubated.
