So a Swedish company wants to make burials more eco-friendly by freezing dead people in liquid nitrogen, using sound waves to shatter the ice before drawing all the moisture out of the remains with a vacuum. With Charlize Theron and District 9 getting all the sunshine, I think we tend to forget that there are thousands of South Africans globally doing sick things. Like Ari Kruger – his short film, Focus was chosen as one of the finalists of Australia’s Tropfest 2011. This is the biggest short film festival in the world, and what’s more impressive is that Ari’s film was the only non-Australian film on the list. High five!

The overwhelming flop that was Spider-Man 3 must have sparked serious hatred amongst die-hard fans of the comics. By all accounts it was one of the lamest movies ever produced, with as much caseoso as each of Christopher Reeves’ Superman films and 10 seasons of Smallville combined.
