A video posted online by extremists shows burkha-clad women being trained to fight by terrorists in the Russian Republic of Chechnya. The film can be seen below, and sees the women being taught how to wield Kalashnikov assault rifles, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and sniper rifles with deadly results.

A massive car bomb went off late Friday afternoon in Beirut – the first of its kind in four years. Rubble and the twisted, burning wreckage of several cars filled the central Beirut street where the bomb exploded. The blast literally ripped the facades and balconies off buildings. Eight people were killed, and a further 78 injured.

A new video of kidnapped South African Stephen Malcolm McGowan has been published by Al Jazeera. McGowan was kidnapped along with Swede Johan Gustafson and Dutch national Sjaak Rijke over nine months ago. Though the video has only Al Jazeera’s voice over, the captives appear in good health.

These pictures are shocking, but the story behind them is even worse. Terror investigator Neil Doyle uncovered the images after authorities carried out a raid on a school in Mogadishu. These children were kidnapped by Al Qaeda in Somalia and were being brainwashed so that they could be used in future attacks on the West. The children – some as young as seven – were chained up to beds while they were taught an extreme version of Islam.

A South African man is being used as a bargaining tool by terrorist organisation, al-Qaeda. The 36-year-old SA national, who also has a British citizenship and whose name has not been revealed, was abducted in Mali last year by members of al-Qaeda. His freedom is now being offered, but only in exchange for Britain’s release of the militant Jordanian preacher, Abu Qatada.

Oh awesome, this makes total sense. The UK’s Ministry of Defense is planning to install surface-to-air missiles on top of residential flats in east London for the duration of the Olympic Games. The bulk of the missile array is intended for the Lexington Building Water Tower, which has about 700 people living in and around it.
