George Zimmerman Charged With Second Degree Murder For Death Of Trayvon Martin

After a ridiculous amount of time at liberty, George Zimmerman – the guy who shot Trayvon Martin for wearing a hoodie – has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. Due to some oddment of Florida law, a charge of first-degree murder was ruled out. If convicted, Zimmerman faces life in prison.

Yesterday the Eugene Terre’Blanche murder trial resumed in Ventersdorp. One of the accused, Chris Mahlangu, claims that he killed the former AWB leader out of self-defense after being sodomised in his farmhouse. His excuse, however, was questioned in the High Court.

Twitter Rescues Johannesburg Man From Hijacking Attempt

An unnamed Johannesburg resident was robbed, kidnapped, and stuffed into the back of car on Sunday – but managed to send a text to his girlfriend, Lynn Peters who promptly posted a plea for help on Twitter. Frantic retweeting led to a Twitter-coordinated search by private security companies, who retrieved both the car and Peters’ boyfriend.

Cape Fugitive Captured

A dramatic shoot-out and escape occurred at the Lansdowne police station in Cape Town’s southern suburbs, early on Sunday morning. Five suspects attempted to make a getaway before one of the men was shot dead, three were rearrested, and the fifth – one of the Cape’s most wanted criminals – got away. Thankfully, Igshaan Dyers, is now back behind bars.

300 Pit Bulls Saved From Dogfighting Farm In Philippines [PICS]

Over the weekend, roughly 300 dogs were rescued from secret woodland kennels just south of Manila. They were part of an illegal online gambling operation in which players outside the Philippines bet on dogs fighting at a clandestine compound. But this is not the animals’ happy ending, as many of them are too injured or too wild to rehabilitate.

A driver in the UK has been jailed after trying to run a group of pedestrians over “like skittles.” The group of people had apparently “been mocking him” as he drew up at a junction. Man Raped By Knife-Wielding Cross-Dresser In Observatory

A Cape Town man was apparently raped by a man dressed as a woman on Wednesday in Observatory. He was sexually assaulted after the “woman” forced him into a dark alleyway. “She” was wearing a wig, black miniskirt, and wielded a knife. The 26 year-old victim has since had to receive counseling after his traumatic experience.

London Court Grants Dewani’s Appeal – Extradition Put On Ice

The British high court has ruled that Shrien Dewani’s extradition to South Africa to face murder charges for orchestrating the honeymoon murder of his wife, Anni, should be halted due to his poor mental health. Dewani’s legal team was appealing an extradition order signed by Home Secretary, Theresa May.

Turkcell Sues MTN For $4,2 Billion

Well, this doesn’t look good: Turkcell is suing MTN for $4,2 billion. Turkcell has decided to act on its claims that MTN bribed officials, arranged meetings between Iranian and South African leaders, and promised Iran weapons as well as UN votes, all in exchange for a licence to offer cellphone services in Iran.

The Pirate Bay To Launch Airborne Servers

Popular torrent hosting site, The Pirate Bay has released plans to host their server database in the clouds. Literally in the clouds, I mean; they want to fit flying micro-drones with super-small computers and connect them with long-range radio transmitters, maintaining a network of “Low-Orbit Server Stations.” Which would make police raids a little more tricky.
