BREAKING: Auction Alliance On Brink Of Collapse As Staff Flee

A report this morning indicated that a “large contingent” of the Johannesburg Auction Alliance sales staff were set to resign. They were reported to be “in talks” with Aucor yesterday about them looking for new jobs. Much more seems to have happened today, though.

He’s eaten from a zebra carcass, swum across freezing lakes in just his undies to see what it’d be like, and he once slept in a dead sheep’s carcass for warmth. Sadly, it might be a while before we get to watch any of Bear’s antics again. The Discovery Channel set him free for good yesterday by announcing their relationship is over.

UPDATE: Vicious Police Brutality In Vaalwater, Limpopo

Yesterday, 2oceansVibe ran a story about the brutal handling of an individual by a Vaalwater policeman. Instead of facing a charge of attempted murder, the officer involved is facing a lesser charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He also spent time as the acting station commander of Vaalwater Police Station, after the incident occurred.

A video clip of a uniformed police officer brutally attacking and detaining an individual has been brought to our attention. The footage, allegedly filmed in Vaalwater, Limpopo, clearly incriminates a Vaalwater police van, and a uniformed police officer who appears to still be on duty. N5FW.

We can now confirm that charges have been laid against him, as well as an Aurora Empowerment Systems lawyer, who also happens to be a director of Velvet Sky Aviation.

Former Policeman And Suspected Rhino Poaching Kingpin Arrested

It would appear that authorities are finally starting to make serious inroads into the rhino horn trafficking underworld. A suspected kingpin, and former Mpumalanga police officer, was arrested on Friday in Hazyview. He was found with four rhino horns, and over R60 000 in his possession.

SA Woman Paralysed By “Bad Cocaine” To Return Home

Kathryne Fuller, 29, will be returning home to South Africa. She was charged with possession of cocaine in Uganda after she took the contaminated substance with Amazing Race producer, Jeff Rice, last month. Rice died, and Fuller was left paralysed on the right side of her body. She pleaded guilty to the charge, and paid a $420 fine to avoid imprisonment.

Occupy Chapman’s Peak Going To Court

The Hout Bay Residents’ Association will apply for a court interdict to stop construction on the Chapman’s Peak toll plaza in Cape Town, it has been confirmed. Construction has begun at the site, and lawyers representing the movement have been drawing up the interdict to halt the R54 million project.

Absa, Nedbank, FNB And Investec Stop Doing Business With Auction Alliance

Pending the outcome of investigations into claims of staff receiving kickbacks for preferential treatment, Absa, Nedbank, First National Bank and Investec have all stopped doing business with Auction Alliance. The latest development comes after news broke earlier in the week, that Auction Alliance CEO, Rael Levitt, had relinquished his post.

Four SANParks Officials Arrested In Connection With Rhino Poaching

It’s difficult to act surprised at the announcement from SANParks this morning, stating that four Kruger National Park wildlife officials were arrested yesterday in connection with rhino poaching activities. There are such large amounts of money involved with the rhino poaching syndicates, and just too many closely related coincidences, for there not to have been someone involved on the inside.

Convicted child molester, Darrell Gilyard, has been allowed to preach in the Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist church in Jacksonville, Florida. But, Gilyard, 49, is not allowed any contact with minors under the terms of his release from a three-year jail sentence he served for abusing a 15-year-old girl at another church in 2009.

California Still Holding Off On Gay Marriage

Seven million Californians are in favour of gay marriage becoming legal. Home to 98,000 same-sex couples, if California would just come to the party already it would be one of the gay rights movement’s biggest achievements ever. But a petition lodged yesterday by groups that still want to limit marriage to a man and a woman has put the legalisation of same-sex marriages in the state on hold.

Absa IT Staff Start Packing Their Bags – Today, Tomorrow, Together

Absa’s HR department must be in a world of pain. The bank has told its full IT staff complement to reapply for their jobs, and look for two other roles within the company. Of Absa’s 1 600 IT personnel, about 200 are currently sitting at home on the company’s payroll, twiddling their thumbs as they await “reassignment”. No wonder I’m still waiting for my online banking issues to be fixed.

Google’s Motorola Purchase Pretty Much Approved

American and European regulators have approved Google’s purchase of handset maker Motorola Mobility. The deal is worth a reported $12,5 billion and Google is said to be pleased at acquiring 17 000 new patents, and a further 7 500 patent applications as part of the deal.

Indian Politicians Caught Watching “Porn” During Parliamentary Debate

Three Indian politicians, among them a women’s affairs minister, resigned after two of them were caught watching what was thought to be porn on a mobile phone belonging to another minister during a session of state parliament on Tuesday. They’re also members of one of the more morally conservative parties.

Frankies Olde Soft Drink Company CEO, Mike Schmidt, has today revealed the small beverage manufacturer has won its case against the larger retailer. Early reports indicated that Woolworths would need to remove its entire range indefinitely, but instead it will only need to repackage its products and remove the slogan: “Good Old Fashioned”. It’s going to be harder and harder for people to believe that James Murdoch didn’t know how bad the phone and email hacking situation was at News International. New evidence has emerged showing that emails sent to James that said: “it is as bad as we feared,” were deleted days before a Scotland Yard investigation began.

Greeks are amongst the most notorious tax dodgers in the world. Currently, Greece has about 60 billion Euros in unpaid taxes outstanding – a figure equivalent to about a quarter of its total economy. Athens decided to release a list on Sunday that published the names of some of the 4 000 known dodgers.

Obviously. The credibility of Rupert Murdoch’s News International has been thrown into further disarray as the media giant finally admitted in the High Court that it had also illegally been accessing emails. This follows the emergence of some 36 hacking settlements yesterday.
