Imagine working on a construction site right in the heart of one of Germany’s largest cities, and suddenly coming across a large, rusty, unidentified object. Trying to figure out what the large, 250kg object is, you ask your foreman. You learn that it’s a bomb, left over from when the Allies bombed the shit out of you, 70 years ago.

Turkcell Sues MTN For $4,2 Billion

Well, this doesn’t look good: Turkcell is suing MTN for $4,2 billion. Turkcell has decided to act on its claims that MTN bribed officials, arranged meetings between Iranian and South African leaders, and promised Iran weapons as well as UN votes, all in exchange for a licence to offer cellphone services in Iran.

British Police To Test Temporary Blinding Laser

Police in Britain will soon be testing a shoulder-mounted laser that is capable of emitting a blinding wall of light from up to 500 metres away. It’s hoped the laser will help repel rioters and other troublemakers in an effort to prevent a repeat of the rioting that took place there earlier this year.

Iran Parades US Drone, Russia And China Want To Inspect It

US officials previously confirmed that an RQ-170 Sentinel, otherwise known as a drone, did, in fact, crash land somewhere in Iran. They however weren’t keen to confirm that the footage Iran broadcast on state television yesterday was in fact real. In other news, Russia and China want to inspect the US craft.

Swat Team Seizes 85 Loaded Weapons From Brad Pitt Movie Set

In another grand display of state the obvious, a brainy police spokesperson pointed out that a collection of loaded assault rifles found on the set of World War Z, were a “disaster waiting to happen”. A SWAT team recently raided the set, which was located in a warehouse in Budapest.

ANC And City Of Cape Town Arguing About Posters

This is a little like me not being allowed to have posters up in my bedroom, but less serious: the ANC has lodged a complaint with the Electoral Commission after Cape Town city workers were found removing COSATU posters campaigning for Tony Ehrenreich. Because they want their posters back, apparently.

Quarrelling Begins To Boil Around Mandela Gun Dispute

Described as a holy grail for South African historians, the gun Nelson Mandela buried almost 50 years ago is nowhere near being reunited with its original proprietor. The owner of the property where the gun is supposedly buried, originally part of Liliesleaf farm, is at loggerheads with museum officials representing the Liliesleaf Trust.

Cape Town Taxi Violence

Enraged Cape Town taxi strikers resorted to stone throwing this morning, due to controversy surrounding the issuing of operating licences and the “draconian” enforcement of traffic laws. This resulted in police firing rubber bullets at the protestors. There are still no taxis running on the main routes in Cape Town. So that’s been resolved well.
