It’s been a year since one of Apple’s chief techies – Scott Forstall – left Apple, and was replaced by Jony Ive and Craig Federighi, who were supposed to manage both iOS and OS X. This was meant to give Apple a chance to create a single, unified design across all operating systems. Apple followers will have expected OS X Mavericks to be quite similar to the new iOS – for the software to merge seamlessly between mobile and desktop device.

This was the gambit of one Carlos Burle, in an attempt to break the world record for biggest wave ever surfed, held by Garret McNamara, who successfully carved a 23-metre behemoth just two years ago.

iPhone camera lenses are not a new thing by any stretch of the imagination. They emerged a few years ago, to accommodate and enhance the steadily improving camera technology that was being developed. They started out small, with individual lenses being sold for about R200, and a set of all sorts of different lenses being sold for around R500. It was more of a start-up company kind of thing to do – but now the big dogs have latched onto to the market, and Sony is one of those who are looking to make a big impact.

Artist Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada unveiled his 11-acre land art portrait of a girl, who is apparently making a wish. Located in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, Ireland, the artwork, titled “WISH,” took one month to construct and required 30,000 wooden pegs, 2,000 tons of soil, and 2,000 tons of sand.

In a bid to keep up with the times, they’re pitching the new service to mobile users specifically. What’s more, they’re going to offer the service in two forms – a free service, and a premium one.

Obviously, the headliner of the show was the new iPad Air – Cook managed to cover a whole lot more in a presentation that lasted over an hour.

He was spotted prowling the grungy streets of Northampton at night, holding flowers or juggling balls. He has since become a global sensation, but opinion was mixed in the town. Some residents praised the man, but some called for his arrest. And, after a month of infamy – the clown has finally been nabbed.

Corporal Josh Hargis was with his special operations unit in Panjwal, Afghanistan, when a woman detonated a suicide bomb vest nearby, triggering the explosion of 13 other bombs. Four of Hargis’ men were killed, and 12 other soldiers were badly wounded, including Hargis himself.
