Fellow Capetonians! You may, or may not be aware that Bafana Bafana will be clashing with the United States of America on the hallowed field of Cape Town Stadium this very evening at 21h30. The game is sold out, so needless to say, a fair number of pedestrians and vehicles will be thronging the streets. Thus, for your benefit, a list of road closure times around the city today.

At a glittering function, coincidentally held at Seth’s Johannesburg residence, The Westcliff Hotel, GQ last night hosted the Best Dressed Men In SA Awards. And what an evening it was, as the who’s who of South African fashionati came out to play. Even more exciting was the fact that your very own Seth Rotherham walked away with the top honours! But that wasn’t the spiciest part of the evening..
My fellow 1800 fans will be pleased to hear that they have launched their new Summer Menu! And they’re doing it properly too, with a ridiculous new R169 Summer Menu Promotion. Unbelievably, that includes a glass of sparkling, starter, 200g rump (or sirloin of rib-eye) + signature sauce, dessert and underground parking at my residence, The Cape Royale Hotel!
The video that exploded across the internet last week, featuring Cebu Pacific air hostesses dancing the flight safety message on a flight to the tune of a Lady Gaga song, has now got a followup. And this time it’s the guys’ turn.
I must apologise to the overseas readers for lack of content today. It’s a public holiday here in South Africa, you see. Heritage Day to be precise! Or, more to the point, Braai Day! This is where I am. At ‘Hunter’s Moon’ in the Karoo. Pretty kak, I know!
Those of us who have lived, or are currently living in the UK, will have seen scenes like these. On an almost daily basis, I might add. Freaks are not hard to come by in London or any big first world city, for that matter. Jonty Fisher just came back from New York and says […]
Yawn.. It’s not altogether surprising that the Cape Royale hotel has nailed another World Luxury Hotel award – they are, after all, a 2oceansvibe Partner and winning awards for excellence is pretty much standard around here. And I’m not talking about the standards the hotel has set when it comes to “boutique fully-serviced hotel’ living, […]
This was just MMS’d to me by The Advertiser, who took this pic on his phone, somewhere in Venice Beach. No-one bats an eyelid at stuff like this around Los Angeles – it’s completely normal! ‘Awesome’ doesn’t even begin to describe it. I mean, seriously, there is so much to talk about. The tassels. The […]
Cape Town’s Westin Grand Hotel Blacklisted by the United States US Blacklists “Westin Grand” Hotel In Cape Town – A five-star Cape Town hotel has been blacklisted by the US consulate in the city after allegations of “multiple theft reports” from US officials staying there. The hotel, the Westin Grand, is next to the Cape […]
Are you underpaid, undervalued, and sidelined at work? Are you feeling brave? Then QUIT! QUIT I TELL YOU! Everyone else is striking, why not one-up those public-sector amateurs? But if you’re going to do it, you absolutely have to do it in style, like (yes, we know it’s fake), or this. But writing, photography, and […]
Word is spreading like wildfire through 2oceansvibe headquarters that a British photographer, by the name of Nick Gleis, managed to sneak onto the private jets of a number of Seth’s closest confidants, who also happen to be the steward’s of many of Africa’s most glorious revolutions. These hallowed men include the likes of Bob Mugabe, […]
Singapore – Doesn’t suck We’re already living in a global village. So the idea of national borders is becoming increasingly strained. Gallup has released data describing where in this big village respondents would re-locate if exorbitant costs (i.e. Visas and travel fees) and international borders weren’t part of the process. “Sulplise!” Most people said they’d […]
We’re pretty blown away by the response to the “Seth Song” we’ve been playing fairly regularly, over at 2oceansvibe Radio. It’s not only a damn funny tune, but I tell you what – it’s got the heads bopping too! Apparently The Assembly lost their minds to it last Saturday! The guys behind the tune are […]
So we wrote recently about Gordon Ramsay making an ever so slightly unceremonious exit from Cape Town, and specifically, the One & Only hotel. Needless to say, The Big Bad Potty Mouth and his cronies are slightly upset about this. I mean, it must leave a little bit of a sting to be tossed out […]
Professional Crook, Jackie Selebi, Leaves Court After Being Sentenced To 15 Years In Jail Jackie Selebi Gets 15 Years Behind Bars – Opposition parties have welcomed the 15-year jail sentence handed down to former police national commissioner Jackie Selebi on Tuesday. Selebi was found guilty on charges of corruption for accepting money from convicted drug […]
When Sol Kerzner enlisted the expertise of the man who is arguably the world’s most popular chef, Gordon Ramsay, he would have felt confident that the star food aspect of his monstrous V&A Waterfront hotel, the One and Only, was buttoned tight. Gordon Effin’ Ramsay opened the five star Maze restaurant at the hotel, but […]
Pilot Ejects Before Jet Crashes & Explodes – This reminds me of when Goose died. Maverick and Goose had to eject when their plane went into a “flat spin.” Only Goose ejected into the cockpit canopy and was killed immediately. The pilot of the plane in the video above was very lucky to survive, as […]
My dad sent me this article from the Australian online publication, Crikey. Quite an interesting take and a must read for all! Personally I was taken by the quote, “Cape Town Is the Future.” It took me back to a few years ago when I attended the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. The crowd in […]
Famke vs Penelope In The 2010 World Cup Final Famke Janssen Takes On Penelope Cruz In The 2010 World Cup Final – We said goodbye to Germany last night as they were conquered by The Red Fury in Durban. They will have to work harder on their Vorsprung Durch technique before the next World Cup. […]
No spice, the Dutch soccer team needs a place to stay. While the Uruguayans were getting an undeserved peaceful night’s sleep in Newlands (despite a small Twitter campaign calling for Capetonians to please “not” blow vuvuzelas and bang drums outside their rooms), the dutchies were bumming around the Cape of Good Hope looking for a […]
Remember the “alleged” tale of the Grand Daddy Valet who stole a customer vehicle and rolled it 70 kilometres away in Blue Downs? The Grand Daddy Hotel left a comment on that story. Let’s enjoy it with our morning coffee: A response to this post from the Grand Daddy: It is regrettably true that this […]
“Taf” from Sketchbooktrails contacted me about doing an oil painting of yours truly. I had never had an “oil” done of me and was more than flattered by the gesture – especially since she said she was also doing one of Goldfish (The Blonde and Baby Jesus) “Sure thing,” I told her. “Do I have […]
All protocol was relaxed as we granted one photographer and virtual-tour expert (Panascape) unprecedented access to my suite at the Cape Royale hotel. As it is my primary residence, you can imagine what intimate never-seen-before details were caught on camera. The virtual tour itself let’s you cruise around the Cape Royale hotel (spinning 360 degrees […]
You see that building in the foreground? In front of the stadium? The Cape Royale Hotel and SKY BAR That’s the Cape Royale hotel. That’s where I live. On the roof is the world famous “SKY BAR” and pool deck. And guess what – they’re hosting premium World Cup viewing LIVE everyday. Yes, I know. […]
Green Point is ramping up the killer World Cup vibes. Most of us frenzied Capetonian vibers will already know this, but those of you from outta-town will most definitely appreciate this vibe. You know the London Eye? Well…
I grabbed a burger at Hudson’s last night and ran into the owner, Dave. He informed me that the place above Hudsons, The Saasveld Lodge, still had availability for the World Cup. So if you’ve got mates coming to town who aren’t able to make use of the ridiculous deals being offered at my primary […]

You can only imagine the zone you can get into, listening to some vinyl, with a joint in one hand and your new iPad in the other – on the day that Google Maps goes live with “Google Street View” for Cape Town. My God, I have traipsed every square inch of this city, all […]
