While the rest of Cape Town took part in yesterday’s Argus, a group of hipsters understandably felt that this event was way too commercial. So 100 of them shed their clothes instead, and cycled naked around the Prestwich Memorial. They raising awareness of the fact that the city has one of the highest carbon emissions per capita ratings in the world. Pictures taken of all the…action…after the jump.
The “dirtbin truck people” certainly do have a sense of humour. I have no doubt this beauty was thrown in the bin after a bachelor party and the garbage disposal peeps fouynd it, blew it up and *ahem* mounted it to their truck. Quality – sent in by Divan. Click ‘continue reading’ to enlarge.
Our newer readers will probably not know about the TBG (Tall Blonde Guy). Or rather, they wouldn’t be aware of the name. Everyone has felt great moments of upliftment and sensational visions when in public – but perhaps didn’t know what to put it down to. Indeed, the TBG may well have been in the […]
A reader sent in this epic iPhone SMS conversation screenshot. My personal favourite is at the end – he still doesn’t get it, and tunes her “I know I picked up a vibe you little flirt!” Whaah! What a beaut! Quality. Good luck with that, buddy 😉
Capetonian Dave Meinert was recently asked to look after a mate’s dog for the weekend. Apparently that included strapping a camera to the pet’s back and making a music video for local electro-hero Johnny Neon. And boy, are we glad he did that! See the video that has had everyone talking for the last week – after the jump.
There is nary a soul in the greater Cape Town metropolitan who has not indulged in a late night prego roll/steak pie/box of Grandpa/Yogi Sip/SteriStumpi/R15 litre of milk while filling up their car at the Engen On Orange, AKA Club Orange. My personal preference is the 125g bag of Woolworths Fruit Pastilles. It is a […]
Oh, what sweet joys summer brings. Once again it’s that time of year when Café Caprice brings us their Annual Industry Volleyball Tournament. What could make a Saturday better than chilling on Camps Bay beach, in the sun watching Cape Town and Brazil’s beautiful people shaking it up in a game of volleyball? The tournament […]
Hear ye, hear ye, ladies. You don’t want to miss this trick. MINX, purveyors and retailers of sexy little bikinis (they’re not lying – check out their range) are offering you and your friends the opportunity to swing by their fabulous Camps Bay headquarters for a private viewing of their range, and of course, a […]
Did you know that Shrien Dewani’s lawyer used the previous advert to try and convince a court that South African jails were dangerous and that he shouldn’t be extradited from Britain to face trial for allegedly killing his wife Anni? The sequel, which aired last night for the first time, is bound to instil yet more fear in drunken drivers’ minds.
It’s a special day when Leo’s former girlfriend, Israeli supermodel Bar Rafaeli takes to the tennis court in nothing but underwear. According to the DailyMail: She was posing for the shots to advertise her new underwear range called Under Me. The 26-year-old model looked fantastic in the lingerie sets as she took to a tennis […]
An intelligent billboard set up in London has facial recognition tech built in that lets it scan passersby for gender – if a woman stops to take a look, it plays a 40-second video clip. Dudes only get a link to the advertiser’s website. It’s like they’re trying to send a message or something.
Champing at the bit to see Clifton Shores?! Well, the wait is over as DSTv’s Vuzu has nabbed the rights to screen the hotly anticipated, Mother City-based “reality” show sometime this year.
Capetonian dog owners have been reminded to make sure their pets are registered with their local municipality by July this year, or risk having them impounded. The by-law received further attention from the City following an incident where a three-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of strays in Philippi last year.
As we charge along into March, you may already be feeling like you need a break from what 2012 has thrown at you. Recent psychological research suggests that the best vacation you can book for yourself is probably short in duration, and punctuated with plenty of sweet experiences.
Jade Adami and Mat Gardner, on behalf of Little Big Productions, recently asked 50 Capetonians the same question. They then compiled and edited all the footage into this huggable video – uploaded to YouTube on Valentine’s Day. But what was the question? There’s only one way to find out…
Kate Upton is an American swimsuit model who beat the likes of our own Genevieve Morton, to the cover of the new 2012 US Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover. Reuters had this to say: Sports Illustrated magazine on Monday unveiled its annual swimsuit issue with model Kate Upton on the cover in a two-toned, red […]
They’re surprisingly hard to find – the Salt & Vinegar flavour of Robertson spices. This, even though it is the best thing to put on popcorn at home. I used to go to the cinema just to experience popcorn with salt & vinegar flavouring. Because that was the only place I could find it. But […]
Late yesterday afternoon, and once more in the early hours of this morning, the hashtag #kidnapping began trending locally on Twitter. Multiple tweets claimed that a child had been kidnapped from the leafy Cape Town suburb of Newlands, and a red VW City Golf Velocity with the registration STW048GP was identified as the getaway car. It has since been debunked as a hoax. More after the jump.
Capetonians: it’s that time of the year again when the City of Cape Town closes many of its roads for the opening of Parliament. As part of the pompous affair and fashion extravaganza, President Jacob Zuma will also deliver his all-important State of the Nation Address.
In early 2011, Cape Town was buzzing with Hollywood fever as scenes for the action blockbuster Safe House were filmed across the city. Local women were frantically following Ryan Reynolds’ every move as they tried to catch a glimpse, phone number or kiss from the hunky actor. Despite the sudden refocus of the local females’ […]
A 2oceansviber with the Twitter handle, @Scabenga, began live tweeting these shots of a fire that began around 13h00 today in Hout Bay. Check them out, after the jump.
Douglas Mallett, 23, won a Golf GTI in the fading light of the Cape Town Tens rugby festival over the weekend. This post could also be titled: “How To Kick A Rugby Ball At A Crossbar…Like A Boss”.
Facebook’s new Timeline feature, that up until now has been an optional switch for its more than 800 million users, will very shortly become compulsory for everyone using the social networking platform. Facebook began the forced switch in some regions yesterday, and will continue to do so in the next few weeks.
International surfing superstar, Jordy Smith, sexy swimsuit model Roxy Louw, 5FM’s iconic DJ Fresh, masterblaster cricketing all-rounder Jacques Kallis, tennis supremo Mats Wilander and a growing list of celebrities all swear by it, and it’s currently set to take South Africa and the world by storm leading a new wave of nutraceuticals into the health […]
Alright. Yes. Pairing your product with an attractive woman is not exactly an original advertising tactic, and if anything the world could do with a little less of that. But because this happens to be a Brazilian TV ad for a language school, and a funny one, we can put these concerns momentarily aside.
It’s quite important that you watch this video, as it will no doubt appear in text books in years to come. It basically has South Africa’s most famous woman, Candice Swanepoel and another 2oceansvibe favourite, Adriana Lima, jumping around and hosing themselves in bikinis next to the ocean. I just love the way models always […]
James Lech, the dog whispering shaman, and so-called “dog behavioural specialist,” appears to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His pilot television series never made it to air, and a number of incidents of animal abuse have begun to emerge – all painting a dismal picture of the man.
We’re big fans of those hysterical (and amazingly well-timed) Nando’s posters. You can check out our favourite ones here, and here. And here, and here. Oh, and here, too. So it’s nice to see that the boys and girls who seed them, Retroviral, had such a great 2011. Ta, fellas. Keep up the radvertising. [Director: […]
Taxi Rank is a newly-launched web app that lets folks in Cape Town order cabs online or via smartphones – which isn’t in itself especially new or useful. What is pretty neat is that, once pick-up and drop-off points are specified, the service also provides estimated quotes by Cape Town’s various taxi companies, organized by price.
Full Canadian uniform. Oh yeah. One of the many premier athletes in the 2oceansvibe stable, Ryan Sandes, or henceforth, “Mr January 2013” is described thus in COSMO’s 2012 Sexiest man Calendar. January 2013: Ryan Sandes (Trail runner) – The ‘Sandman’ travels the globe, running in crazy places such as Antarctica and the Amazon, and winning […]
