6’1′ bombshell, Jenna Talackova of Vancouver was disqualified from the Donald Trump-owned Miss Universe Canada beauty pageant for “not meeting the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form,” according to competition officials. New Study Confirms That Hollywood Is Still Pretty Much Sexist

This shouldn’t be surprising to anybody, but it’s probably good to be reminded. A study by USC’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism that surveyed the top 100-grossing movies of 2009, and found that only 32,8% of the 4 342 speaking characters were female. Let us remember that 2009 was the year that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen came out.

Iranian Actress Given 90 Lashes For Being In A Mildly Subversive Film

More specifically, Iranian actress Marzieh Vafamehr was sentenced to 90 lashes for starring in “My Tehran For Sale,” a movie about how Iran mistreats its actresses. The actress was arrested for being in the film – which was never officially distributed in Iran – in July, and her sentence was handed down this weekend.
