PETA recently took up a lawsuit against SeaWorld on behalf of five killer whales. The animal rights campaigners even went so far as to compare the condition of these orcas to human slavery. The Daily Show responded by sending a black guy to interview someone at PETA. After watching this, pack up and go home, because this is the best thing you’ll see all day.

You might think you’ve seen some nasty old relics cruising the nation’s roads, but you haven’t seen anything quite like this! A reader sent in this clipping a week ago, and with a glint in his eye questioned whether wine “experts” are as useful as snake-oil salesmen. The man has a point. When people start advising on matters that largely concern taste, you need to be extra careful for bullshitters. Not as careful as for a bullshitting anesthesiologist I’ll admit – a blagging doctor can kill you. But be careful, because there will be more half-arsed winos than there will be doctors.

Absa’s HR department must be in a world of pain. The bank has told its full IT staff complement to reapply for their jobs, and look for two other roles within the company. Of Absa’s 1 600 IT personnel, about 200 are currently sitting at home on the company’s payroll, twiddling their thumbs as they await “reassignment”. No wonder I’m still waiting for my online banking issues to be fixed.
Woolies wants you to do all of your shopping in their stores, and soon. They don’t want you to pick up a few things and then mosey on down to Pick n Pay or Spar to buy the rest of what you’re after, because it’s cheaper. Woolies have a vision: they’ll make those things cheaper because they’re opening bigger supermarkets.

Forget what you might have heard, or what that guy in the bar told you, it’s time for all of us to get our heads around AARTO – the new road traffic offences system that is going to be rolled out nationwide at some point in the future. Here’s a little video from the people at peopleforbikes.org. If you’re a cyclist, this will make your chest warm with the delight of an extra ten kilometers on a crisp autumn morning. If you’re not a fan, then please make sure you’re sitting down, because this much shit that cyclists say in one go will induce a rage blackout. Believe me.
