The Mini-Cooper sized Curiosity Rover is on target to land on the surface of Mars at 07h31 am on August 6th. This presents the most advanced mission to Mars in the history of space exploration. William Shatner and Will Wheaton have contributed their voices to videos explaining the mission.
Shatner’s video, called the “Grand Entrance”, guides viewers from entry through descent, and after landing. Oddly, Will Wheaton’s video is exactly the same, just with Will Wheaton instead of William Shatner.
The future direction of Mars exploration is hanging on the outcome of this $2,5 billion science project to determine whether the environment was once suitable or microbes to live. Previous missions have found ice and signs that water once flowed. Curiosity will drill into rocks and soil in search of carbon and other elements.
