A 2oceansVibe source has come forward claiming that one of the men depicted in the video footage showing the end of an altercation that took place at the Top Gear Festival in Durban this last weekend, has been linked to previous accusations of assault.
The allegations, from 2009, claim Lee Dyer, and three others, assaulted elderly people at San Vineros restaurant in Glenanda, south of Johannesburg.
In a report in the Sowetan, a female complainant said Lee Dyer was amongst “the thugs who assaulted five people at San Vineros restaurant in Glenanda, south of Johannesburg, with steel chairs…”
In the video footage from Saturday’s altercation, a man involved in the altercation can clearly be seen wearing a white Hunter MMA “wife beater” vest with a black cap. At a number of points in the earlier parts of the video, a female witness refers to the man in the white vest as “Trevor.”
According to another 2oceansVibe source, his name is Trev, and he is a friend of Lee Dyer’s.
2oceansVibe has been able to connect Lee to Domination Fighting – a boxing, MMA and functional fitness gym also based in Durban. He is a coach at the gym.
The second man (who threw the chair in the video) has been identified as Lee Dyer. His tattoos shown on the Domination Fighting Facebook page match the tattoos of the man in the video.
According to the South African boxing rankings, Dyer currently holds the number seven ranking in the super middleweight category.
Here’s a photo of Dyer and Trevor together, circled:
Tattoos and physical features appear to leave little to the imagination. See the gallery below, and judge for yourself.
Accusations that the men were defending themselves have been made under the YouTube video, including counter allegations that the men were merely defending lewd behaviour levelled against one of the men’s wives.
But the question remains as to whether the two men, both professionally trained and dangerous athletes, should have carried on in this manner in public?
