We’ve been following the Avis Unogwaja team challenge here at 2oceansVibe. Last time we caught up with the team on their 1 677-kilometre trip from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg, they were in Cradock. They still had 855 kilometres, and six days to go, as well as a Comrades Marathon to run.
The team had been partaking in an event that brings to life the unique history of the Comrades: following in the cycle tracks and footsteps of race legend, Phil Masterton-Smith, nicknamed “Unogwaja” – meaning Hare in isiZulu.
They made it to Pietermaritzburg on time to run the Comrades, but as you can imagine, running 89 kilometres after cycling 1 677 kilometres is no easy ask.
Well-done team Unogwaja!
