Google recently put out an ad for a full-time doodler, and it seems they may have filled that position. Today’s doodle celebrates the 78th birthday of Robert Moog, creator of the famous “moog” synthesisers, in their best tribute yet. But what sets it apart from your average doodle?
This one is a working synth – a Google replica of one of the first electronic musical instruments. The doodle goes all out – all the parts of the synth are adjustable. That includes the mixer, the oscillators, the filters and the envelope. You can even record a few notes and play them back again.
Click here to go to Google and give it a try – if you know what you’re doing I reckon you’d be able to make something quite cool. They’ve called their version the “goog”. Too cool.
Robert “Bob” Moog created the synth in the 1950’s, and the iconic electronic design is still used today.
Best doodle ever? I think so.
