For those of you who don’t know (blind) the Rudolf Dassler range of clothing at Puma, it’s the top-shelf stuff. You know what I mean – the premium stuff. That said, this is a premium event. Not a lot of people get to go to Rudolf Dassler events. Your coolness levels are guaranteed to increase by conservatively 30%.

Music Machine is an inspiring once-off encounter between modern sport fashion and innovative music technology. Set in the gallery space of Whatiftheworld, Music Machine is an installation/event that aims to illuminate not only the revolutionary spirit behind the Rudolf Dassler by PUMA style, but also to shine a light on the defining electronic music machines that have genuinely revolutionized modern music and caught the imagination of ‘counterculture’ individualists from past to present.
2OCEANSVIBE EXCLUSIVE MUSIC MACHINE TICKET GIVEAWAYThe events take place at Whatiftheworld art gallery in Woodstock (208 Albert Road), Cape Town on Friday, 30 October 2009 and at the newly opened project space CO-OP in Johannesburg on Saturday, 7 November 2009.
This project reveals a trend toward illustration as the new medium of expression in contemporary electronic music and dance culture demonstrated by current club flyers, posters and record sleeve designs.
PUMA’s brief to the illustrators was musically inspired: to draw the pioneering electronic music instruments such as synthesizers, samplers, sequencers and drum machines that share the qualities apparent in Rudolf Dassler by PUMA range: authentic heritage, revolutionary spirit and craftsmanship that inspires innovation and self expression.
The illustrators presenting work include One Horse Town, Adam Hill, Ian Jepson, Jordan Metcalf, Black Koki, 351073, Meghan Judge, Bruce Mackay, Lauren Fowler, Bison, Haasbroek, Marc Barnard and Clinton Jordaan.
The work will be presented as part of an installation that also includes a display of Rudolf Dassler by PUMA apparel, multiple projections, an exhibition of images that showcase the legacy of the Rudolf Dassler by PUMA range (which takes its name from the founder of PUMA) and an electro music soundtrack provided in Cape Town by live act P.H.Fat, DJs Richard the Third, Adventures in Space, Kid 84, Remy Gold, enxo, Airstrike, and in Johannesburg by live acts Mtkidu and João Orecchia, DJs Richard the Third, Casioheart, Ivan Turanjanin and Sassquatch.
Rudolf Dassler by PUMA Music Machine promises to be a thought-provoking encounter between sport fashion and contemporary art and music.
Rooted in heritage and the revolutionary spirit, Rudolf Dassler by PUMA is a progressive collection that personifies the collision of sport, fashion and contemporary urban culture.
For one night only, South African purveyors of electro music and creatives unite to celebrate the shared qualities of Rudolf Dassler by PUMA and the influential electronic sound machines: authentic heritage, craftsmanship that acknowledges the past while pioneering new ideas and product designed to fulfil the need for personal expression.
