As the death toll from the bout of extremely cold weather in Europe has surpassed the 500 mark, a Swiss man is doing his best to stay warm. He’s installed a wood-burning stove to heat up his car when he needs to drive.
Unfortunately temperature control is not an option for Pascal Prokop, the Swiss man who has taken Swiss ingenuity to new heights.
Prokop, 38, sporting a surname that has no pun intended, has built a wood-burning stove in his 1990 Volvo 240 station wagon to help him keep the cold that is gripping Europe, out of his car.
Prokop’s genius began to garner attention when photos of his Volvo appeared near his hometown of Mettmenstetten, 25 kilometres south of Zurich, recently.
It’s since emerged that he had to do quite a bit of modification to his Volvo, as well as get it street legal before he could take it out.
Pascal successfully managed to do that by getting an operating permit from the relevant Swiss technical inspection authorities.
The right temperature…
Just a 1990 Volvo 240 with a wood-burning stove heater…
His driving experience is now far more pleasurable.
