We caught up with 2oceansvibe Character (The Barn Dog) and Springbok captain, John Smit last week during his short visit to Cape Town. There was loads to talk about, including his new black eye, the similarities between 2oceansvibe’s blog awards and the Springbok trophies, as well as his new book – “Captain In The Cauldron.”
But we didn’t stop there. I managed to acquire a special signed copy of Springbok Captain, John Smit’s new book, “Captain In The Cauldron.”And I say “special,” because the message he wrote inside is JUST for 2oceansvibers.
It says, “Work is a Tryline, Convert the Holiday!”
Pretty cool, hey? I know.
Find out how to win that further down..
Captain in the Cauldron – The John Smit Story
The longest serving captain in Springbok rugby history gives a revealing account of the simultaneous joys and travails of one of the most challenging – and rewarding – jobs in sport in this much anticipated autobiography. The genial, jovial and witty Rugby World Cup-winning captain explains how a tubby kid from Pietersburg with dreams of winning Wimbledon grew into his country’s most successful rugby captain. Smit, renowned for his honesty and humility, gives an eyebrow-raising account of the ambushes awaiting rugby celebrities in this country and offers the secret to his longevity in a sport that eats the naïve and gullible for breakfast.
