Wow it’s been a long time since the lottery was at R1 billion. But here we are, with tomorrow’s Powerball lottery sitting at $120 million. That’s “a lot of tin,” as they say in Johannesburg, and I’m sure we’ve all dreamt of the various things we would do with the money. Buying the yacht and the island and the jet is a given – for me at least. Some of you have the philanthropic vibe going for you and you want to give half of it to help the animals. That’s fantastic. But let’s discuss another thing – do you tell anyone that you’ve won?
Tomorrow’s Powerball Lottery Is Sitting at ONE BILLION RAND
Some people do and they very often end up dead, which is something of a deterrent for me. The fast-track into a grave is not something I fear. What I fear most are people bothering me and trying to scam me for money. All the time. Not great. “All I need is a million,” they would say. Ja-ja, and 100 of you makes it 100 million. But they don’t do that if you EARN the money through hard work – they only do it if they know you got easy-money. So you need to be smart.
Personally, I’m telling no-one. And the way to enjoy the money is you setup a new business or enterprise. Shit, you could even get a CD made. Then what you do is you make a whole bunch of CDs and buy them from yourself, causing the album to go platinum. You’ll make headlines everywhere and even if people hate your album (which they will), the “numbers don’t lie.”
Then, just like that, you buy a Ferrari. And on you go – to your second album. Or maybe you buy yourself a KFC and pretend it’s doing better than it does (by all accounts they do well anyway). The point is, just make something up – rather than tell people you’ve won the lottery.
That’s my advice anyway!
