EWN has reported that one of the investigators in the Nick Frischke disappearance testified in court today that an accused claims his partner stabbed Nick in the back during the alleged robbery in 2023.

The investigating officer testified in the Wynberg Magistrates Court that one of the four men accused of robbing Frischke had agreed to turn State witness. Lead investigator, Dudley Truter, testified that Melvin Geunatin had implicated co-accused, Ishaam Fischer, as the one who stabbed Frischke in the back after robbing him of his cell phone, backpack and other items.

It was also noted that an affidavit detailed how the German tourist could not walk properly after he was stabbed and that he looked weak “as if he could fall at any time”.

A stolen cellphone was found in Geunatin’s possession, but the accused claims that from Fischer, who he said stabbed the tourist. The investigating officer will return to the witness stand on 4 April to continue the testimony.

The 22-year-old Frischke disappeared while hiking along the Hangberg trail in Hout Bay on 14 February 2023.
