Italian-French automobile designer Ettore Bugatti is next in line to get the biopic treatment.
Andrea Iervolino, producer of Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend, the Ferrari film, as well as the upcoming Maserati movie, is expected to begin filming on the untitled Bugatti picture late next year in Italy and France.
The English-language film will focus on the brand’s founder, whose son, Jean, was tragically killed in 1939 at the age of 30 during a test drive near the family’s plant in Duppigheim.
Bugatti is not just known for its supercars and has created a variety of products, including aeroplane motors, bicycles, pool tables and a residential tower in Dubai.
“Bugatti will be a film that honours the passion and innovation that have defined one of the most iconic car manufacturers of all time.”
Founded in 1909, the brand has a rich history in motor racing, winning the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix in 1929 and winning the Le Mans three times.
In 2000, Ettore Bugatti was also inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.
While we wait for the Bugatti biopic, the Andrea Iervolino Company’s next project, Maserati: The Brothers, is slated to debut next October.Bobby Moresco is directing the high-octane biography, which will star Michele Morrone as Alfieri Il Maserati. Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins has also been cast as an Italian investor funding the three brothers’ passion for building racing vehicles. The film will be shot in Bologna, although other details are still unknown.
There were six Maserati brothers, Carlo, Bindo, Alfieri, Mario, Ettore and Ernesto. Born between 1881 and 1898 from Rodolfo Maserati and Carolina Losi.Their father Rodolfo worked in Voghera for the Royal Railways, and through trains he introduced his children to the beauty of mechanics.
“Maserati was racing before anybody, and the brothers were engineers,” Iervolino told Robb Report. “It’s a powerful and beautiful story of brothers.”
