One Cape Town hotel was recognised in the presence of industry-defining hotels from across six continents at an awards ceremony in London.
That’s the lush Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel that bagged the 28th spot in this year’s global ranking of the World’s 50 Best Hotels.
The timing couldn’t be better, as Saffas are celebrating Tourism and Heritage Month. The Nellie, as the iconic hotel has been nicknamed, has been part of South Africa’s hotel industry for 125 years and has been captivating visitors since 1899.
As IOL notes the pretty-in-pink hotel in the urban heart of the city is surrounded by mountains and a metropolis that fuses its 125 years of heritage with 21st-century relevance.
Commenting on the win, Tiago Moraes Sarmento, area managing director of Belmond Southern Africa, said their daily focus is on how they make guests and staff feel.
“We have the ability to influence that narrative by creating unforgettable moments that epitomise slow luxury for the modern traveller.
“We are so thrilled to be recognised for the passion and dedication of our extraordinary colleagues who continue to craft magic for our guests and make people smile,” he said.
The magic is real:
