Guess who’s back? James Blunt, everyone!
The multiple award-winning and Grammy-nominated musician has arrived in Cape Town for the first of two shows he’ll be performing in South Africa.
The now 50-year-old is touring for his new album Who We Used To Be and has decided to grace Mzansi once again along the way. You know what they say, once you visit, you always come back – or something like that. The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer was last here in 2012 for a show, so it is good to see him enjoying our stunning country once again.
Just before he settled on stage to woo his Saffa fans, Blunt took to social media to post a couple of pictures of his “pending arrival” as well as a snap of him on top of what appears to be Lion’s Head, The South African noted.

If you didn’t have tickets to see the show, then you’re going to have to rush around the Mother City to get a sighting, as James Blunt and his band already played at the Grand Arena at GrandWest in Cape Town on Thursday, 12 September,
Unless you hop on a flight and catch him this Saturday, 14 September at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.
“I cannot find the words to say how excited I am to get back out on the road again on tour in 2024,” Blunt said.
“My new album was incredibly fun to write and record, and some of the new songs will undoubtedly get you up on your feet and dancing again. I’m looking forward to crowd surfing at a venue near you!”
Who We Used To Be is Blunt’s first studio album since the acclaimed, top 3 Once Upon A Mind in 2019.
UPDATE: resident photographer Lance Peterson was at the Cape Town show and managed to snap Blunt in action.
Looks like it was a stellar eve, or maybe that’s just Lance Peterson’s photography skills.
