As far as the daily news cycle goes, this might not be up there with ‘Pope Visits Asia’, or ’15 Best Baby Strollers’, but with a headline like the above, how can we not ask “Dafuck?” and delve a bit deeper?
Read it again, didn’t you? Well, let’s dive right.
US tabloids reported that 1000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton was pictured being carried out of a Tennessee Safari Park on a stretcher this week after being bit by a camel. Local EMT workers were seen transporting the reality star into an awaiting ambulance while she held a piece of fabric to one of her arms, ostensibly where the hungry camel took a bite.
TMZ reported that the 36-year-old mom of two appeared distressed throughout the whole situation, but her distress might have been due to the events that followed the camel bite.
Slaton was reportedly arrested soon after the incident when officers from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department found psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her vehicle, along with her two kids.
“Deputies were requested to respond to Safari Park where a guest allegedly was bitten by a camel. Upon arrival, deputies were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle.”
The reality TV star was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs and two counts of child endangerment. The snitching camel was not charged.
Amy, along with her sister Tammy Slaton are known for starring in the popular TV series since 2020. The TLC production follows the sisters on their weight-loss journey and amounts to little more than exploiting someone’s misery for ratings, with lingering close-ups of the sisters crying and carnival background music whenever they attempt to walk.
Amy and Tammy still keep their massive social media following up-to-date as they hit major weight loss goals, so here’s hoping the camel drug bust doesn’t derail their efforts.
